Just found a few fry during Water change

What size of tank do you have them in and are they on their own? I have corries in most of my tanks and I see the odd fry that has managed to survive, but most inevitably get eaten. I'm not trying to breed them but I have a couple of spare tanks atm and it might be interesting to try this.

Small schooling fish to go with GBRs in 30 gallon long

My whiteclouds go outside in the summer. The temperature probably gets as low as 10 at night, but I wouldn't try to keep them above 24.

Small schooling fish to go with GBRs in 30 gallon long

Guppies and rams are unlikely to both thrive as they have much different requirements. All the other fish you mentioned prefer softer water , except for guppies.

Was all going so well until you mentioned guppies.

Do the best-laid plans of mice & men....

I think the easiest route would be to leave the snails and be careful feeding. Of course if your snails don't get much to eat, your shrimp won't either unless you can think of creative ways of feeding them.

    Driftwood Hunting (and some aquascaping)

I love beachcombing for wood and other stuff for my tanks. Never thought of taking a jigsaw with me. I often find big logs that are far too big for my needs.

    Duckweed!?

I should have enough to fill up a medium size aircraft in the next week or so. I would dearly like to get rid of all of it.

How to make this look good...

Maybe start from the top with some water lettuce. The roots will soon stretch at least half way down.

    What snail is this?

It is indeed a ramshorn. I looked at first 2 pics and decided it was a pond snail. I didn't look at the other pics which clearly show what it is.

    Question about living conditions

Either the glofish or the livebearers will probably be suited to your water, but it's unlikely both will be. Livebearers will be more comfortable in water that is 10 GH (general hardness) and over, Softwater fish (like most of the tetras and south American cichlids will do better in water under...

    Cichlids.

Some LFS are great, other's particularly the chains can be not so great. I'm lucky to have two good shops near me. One independent and one chain. The thing they have in common is that they employ people who are obviously hobbyists.

    Cichlids.

They are, particularly when in full breeding coloration. Dwarf cichlids (the most commonly kept are apistogramma species) are better in a single cichlid species tank. You can keep them with lots of other fish but with other dwarf cichlids its unlikely to work out. ! males can be kept with 1 or...

    Cichlids.

One of my favourite cichlids is anomalochromis thomasi. A very peaceful and beautiful small cichlid. this is a video I made a few years ago. The male just recently passed away but I have a few of his descendants in my tanks.

What’s the science behind adding salt?

It's something that used to be common practice, people would routinely add salt to all their tanks. More recently I think the theory that it is beneficial has been mostly debunked. I for one don't use it, particularly as most of my tanks have corydoras in them. While it may be fine for some hard...

    It's been a long time

I bought a betta solely because my grandson wanted one. I hadn't kept a betta since my early days of fishkeeping and although they are beautiful I had no great desire to keep one. I was loathe to take up a whole 60 litre tank to house one fish so I planted it fairly densely and put in a nerite...

    Aquarium plants outdoors.

I've put some frogbit in too, I'll see how that goes. I don't expect most of the plants to survive past september, but I'm hoping they make it through the summer. I'm also planning on putting fish in once they warm up a bit. White clouds for sure (I have dozens of these plus a tank of fry), and...

Rosy barb. It looks a strange shape. I hope they aren't breeding Balloon versions of these. Maybe it's just fat.

    Aquarium plants outdoors.

I recently bought some half whisky barrels and lined them with pond liner to make some little outdoor ponds. I live in Scotland and although at this time of year it can be quite warm during the day, at night its a bit colder. I'm planning on trying some of my aquarium plants in the barrels...

I put my white clouds outside last year and they did fine. The downside is that they aren't easy to see from above. Your gold whiteclouds should stand out better. Mine didn't breed in the tub as far as I know but spawned as soon as I brought them back inside. I bought some half whisky barrels...
