Mysterious illness killing fish in under 24hrs

Hello, so I have this mysterious illness that is taking my fish in a very quick timeframe. I started about 3 weeks ago on which I lost about half my stock in my 150gal community tank. I started treating with metroplex and sulfaplex, didnt see any response, then I went to ammoxicilin and...

    Mini plywood tank

Yeah i would def go with glass. A plywood tank is going to cost more once you tank into account the sealant. I just made a custom 38 gallon out of glass. 36"x19"x12". Was pretty easy. Alternatively you could just shop around for a 15 gallon tank. Dimensions are 24"x12"x12".

    Community tank

By liquid, do you mean water from another tank? Normally water from other tank doesn't hold any beneficial bacteria. Alsp by transferring media, still monitor the parameters as i had a cycle crash doing the same. Not sure what happened but just a precaution. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using...

    Mini plywood tank

What size are you thinking about? Normally the front of tge plywood tank is mostly glass, held on place with the plywood. Are you meaning a viewing window on the side? Also glass is fairly easy to work with and you can also make different dimensions, as well as acrylic. Sent from my...

Very high nitrite during fishleas cycling

Hello. I'm cycling my tank with ammonia, done it quite a few times before but I'm having a issue this time. My nitrite is off the chart. I've passed the maintenance dose of ammonia. I'm testing 0 ammonia, literally off the chart nitrite and about 10ppm of nitrate. All API test kit. I did add...

    Question about glass thickness

I wasnt able to find another calculator. But i also put in the dimensions of the tanks i salvaged the glass from and it said i needed thicker glass. They were both aquarium made to be aquariums. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk

    Question about glass thickness

Hello, so I took apart a 30&35 gallon and salvaged the glass. None of its tempered. The thickness of it all is 3/16inch. I wanted to make a tank that was 3ft long, 19in wide and 16in heigh. I was going to do a simple bracing, center and each end of 3in wide glass, same thickness. Would the...

Hello, i know this is the beginners section, i am no beginner but i didnt know where else to post this. So i got an old school 55 gallon tank for free the other day, both top and bottom trim where shot, i.e. falling apart, cracking, missing center brace. Anyways it did come with one...

    Yellow Slime?

Okay im having a nightmarish time with my tank. Its a 10 gallon that ive been fishless cycling for about a month now. First the tank was over run by white fungus or mould, but that went away. Well since the tank was started ive had yellow slime on the silicone. The tank was resealed wity GE 1...

    What Is This

Well my theory to add on to that is that i did a 50% water change 4 days in a row so the food soure was probably very plentiful. On the other hand it is now my most clear tank hahaha Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk

    What Is This

Ohhhh this is confusing. Today i woke up to a great looking tank with crystal clear water and alot of the sludge, if you will, gone. The substrate is still a shade of grey but alot less saturated and turning back to the normal color. The biggest change can be seen on the rocks. Sent from...

    What Is This

Ohh okay, i read you post wrong. But i almost think the water changes may have caused this to either bloom or start 4 days about i started 50% changes. Today being the 4th day, i woke up to this craziness. And my water fron tap does have chloramine, 2.4ppm to be exact (from water supply...

    What Is This

    What Is This

Ive been doing a fishless cycle on a 10gallon tank. Its been around a month give or take. So i did a series of water changes over the past week to bring it down...

    Diy Lighting

So I know these lights are popular in the hobby as they allow many color customizations. But im wondering if anyone has had luck with them with growing plants. Canister Filter Size + Bioload, Is Bigger Better?

So I want to talk about bio filtration. I see alot of people slapping massive filters on tanks with the concept of "more filtration is never a bad thing" but they then fill it with a whole bunch of bio media and little mechanical. Now I don't want this to get into a topic of the benefit of...
