I think I am near the end of my cycle. I just tested and the tank is at 0 ppm for ammonia and nitrite but seems to be around 80 ppm on nitrates. Do I just need to do a water change to fix the nitrates or is that exceedingly high?

Started my first fishless cycle on Sunday. My current Ammonia levels are 4 ppm and Nitrites are 0 ppm. Do I need to do anything?

I think I read that I just need to do a good rinse. I have some bigger rocks that i think will look cool in the tank. Outside of washing, any other precautions I should take?

Great advice. Exactly what I was looking for. I like the look of the planted tank so I think I will steer clear of the Under Gravel filter. Going to the pet store today to start getting some supplies. Then I'm going to try a fishless cycle!

I'm still kind of new to the hobby. I got a 20 gallon tank for Christmas (replacing my 10 gallon). I'm getting ready to set up the tank but if these are worth the investment then I obviously need to make that purchase before I put the gravel and plants into the tank.

Update. My tank is starting to clear up. I've been cleaning it about every 6 days. I also discovered I could use the net to really clean out a lot of the floating stuff left behind after using the vacuum. Once I started doing this the water clarity started to improve.   I'm hoping to get a large...

My water is dingy looking for some reason. A few weeks ago it looked great then I went 10 days in between cleanings and it hasn't cleared since.
