    Filter Overkill?

I'm setting up a 15 gallon planted tank and want to use a canister filter for filtration. I've found a Marineland 350 magnum canister filter for sale near me for a reasonable price. Would this be too much for a 15 gallon? (It's rated for up to 100 gallons) Also, the person selling it had it on a...

    Aqueon Water Changer

I recently bought an Aquaeon water changer in the hope of making water changes easier, but it doesn't fit on my sink. The adapter is too large to be screwed into the sink nozzle. Is there anything I can do? I haven't been able to find a part the Aqueon themselves make that would help me out...

    Picking Some Fish

I'm not too keen on neons, they're a bit too common and more colorful than what I wanted. The tank is currently at the glass shop, so no pictures. It almost looks like someone shrunk a 12 gallon long Mr.Aqua tank or cut the top off of a 6.6 gallon bookshelf case, but cooler, because it's a slate...

    Picking Some Fish

I'm looking for a shoal for a peculiarly shaped tank and would like to add a small shoal of fish. There's just SO many different kinds of schooling fish that it's getting overwhelming. The tank is 5.5 gallons *but* its 24" long, 6.5" wide, and 8" tall, so it has plenty of horizontal swimming...

    Betta Breeders

I should have a spot open soon from a betta that is moving to my mothers salon (I've infected her), and of course I need to fill it with another betta. My PetCo does have some exceptional quality bettas they rang from marbled to super yellows to a pastel blue and red butterfly superdelta (I...

    Will My Betta "colour Up"?

In my experience bettas "color up" when introduced to a spacious tank with warm, clean water. While in the store bettas are subjected to cold water that is generally dirty and a cramped cup. As long as you keep his tank clean and the temp around 78 degrees he should brighten up. Bettas that...

    Shrimp Vs. Snails

Are shrimp or snails better at cleaning up algea? I have a 10 gallon that is in need of some serious Aldea eating citizens. I was thinking ~15 Amano shrimp or ~3 Horned Nerite snails. Also, how are Nerites in the waste department? At one time I had some Apple snails and they were terrible about...

    Betta Tank Upgrade Help?

The easiest way to divide a betta tank is using a diy divider. Here's one instructional thread, but there are a ton of available ones on different forums http://www.bettafish.com/showthread.php?t=40025 These dividers are partially see through, so there might be some initial flaring, but they...

    Pygmy Cories

The tank is 24" long, 17" tall, and 18.5" deep. I was hoping to have a shoal of Chilli Rasbora, about 4 Dario Dario (1m 3f), and some bottom dwelling fish.

    Pygmy Cories

I'm thinking of getting a shoal of pygmy cories, but first I'd like to know what level they swim at? (Upper, middle, or bottom) If they don't remain at the bottom, are there any cories that suitable for a 13 gallon aquarium that keep to the bottom layer?

    Best Filter For Bettas?

Sponge filters are great for bettas, but hang in the back filters with an adjustable current can have the input on one side and the outflow on the other. This helps to maintain proper filtartion on both sides. Or, you could hook up two sponge filters; one on each side of the divider.

    August 2013 - Potm Banter

Curious question, what about fostering? Would that count as technically not yours or yours seeing as its owned by the rescue and you're part of the rescue and such. I know we are getting into the technical stuff here.

    Ceramic Cichlid Rocks

I'm just wondering if Ceramic Cichlid Rocks are safe to use with shrimp. Would they go inside them or use them in anyway? Has anyone ever used them with their shrimp? They look like they would provide a good place for the shrimp to walk explore and hide in. If you don't know what I'm talking...
