    One of my babies

Snailguy - Thanks! It's been really interesting to see what colors showed up. Even now, at four months old, the finnage is still developing... YB - Yeah, I want to do more breeding, BUT I don't know where I'd put all the fish! My dogs like a cool house - the bettas need to be warm. I have a...

    One of my babies

Suporn said the female was a sibling - who knows. It was an interesting spawn with a lot of variety of color! I'm going to do a sibling breeding between a copper male and a copper/green female. AND I'll probably try using the father with a copper daughter. I got some interesting females with...

    One of my babies

Here are a few more photos of Golden Mermaid's crew: He's a Platinum Marble Turquoise HM PK... I got a LOT of different colors and types in the spawn. This fish is the one who had some 'red' showing in his fins after the stress of shipping, but it's clearing up nicely! A copper HM - the...

    One of my babies

Hey, thanks for all the comments. I appreciate the compliments... they've been a lot of work! The early weeks weren't real bad, but once they were jarred and I was changing water every other day, I felt like a betta janitor... Red-Devil: the bodies are right around 1 1/2" long - maybe just...

    One of my babies

Just thought I'd post a pic of one of my babies. They're almost 4 months old now, and were bred from a melano copper male and a green female that I got from Suporn at bluebetta.com. He's a turquoise butterfly HM... Hey, Yeeviabetta - what do you think? Thanks for the pic, Golden Mermaid!

Anyone live close to Yeeviabetta? We need to do a betta-intervention on him!!! ...AND RIGHT AWAY!!! LOL!!! If it's any consolation, I looked on aquabid today and didn't see much that intersted me...

    Stress from shipping???

Yeah, you're too funny, YB - I saw your other post and know you just bought him! LOL!!! Yes, I got a lot of HMs out of the spawn - a few that are really incredible, some that are just real good. I also got a number of HM PKs and some that are deltas or super deltas from the looks of them...

    Stress from shipping???

Thanks for jumping in YB - I was really hoping you'd have some advice. My babies are about 4 months old now and I'm just starting to move a few. Golden Mermaid is a great 'fishlady' and has helped me with my goldfish immeasurably. She now has FIVE bettas from my spawning - a turquoise HM...

    Stress from shipping???

I just sent out my first shipment of bettas from my Melano Copper HM breeding. They arrived looking really good, but now one of the fish that went from Michigan to Tennessee - a marble butterfly - is showing a little red in the white of his fins. The woman I sent them to is very experienced...

Styx, I sellected one red male for you.

They're beautiful, YB... it's great to see Thailand quailty bettas being bred here in the U.S. - GREAT JOB! The red is beautiful, and the Gold Rocketail - WOW! ...I have to get a pair of those! They're FANTASTIC!!!

    Here are the red babies.:)

They're VERY, VERY nice, YB! Congrats! Who are the original parents from?

    Melano Copper babies

Yeah, I bet you're right, YB... there's more than 40 babies in that tank. I'd like to pull the plants out, but I'd be afraid I'd take some babies out with the plants. I'd love to see your red babies! When are you going to post their pictures? Pull aside a nice sibling pair of those red...

I hate my itchy fingers playing in aquabid.

Hey, YB - did your bettas come yet??? I think you said the 27th... How do they look? I'm hoping to see some new photos...

I hate my itchy fingers playing in aquabid.

They're FANTASTIC, YB... really beautiful! I love the lavender one too... You have what's called Obsessive Betta Disorder : the irresistable compulsion to get more and more bettas! There is no cure... The next time you go to aquabid, DO NOT pull your credit card out of your wallet! DO NOT...

    Melano Copper babies

Thanks, Yeeviabetta! Yeah, he IS a stud now... He was only 3 months old in that photo, and his tail and fins have grown out a lot. The only bad thing is his old lady beat him up pretty bad the last time during their love-games, and his tail looks pretty rough right now... but he beat her up...

    Melano Copper babies

Thanks, Yeeviabetta... I'll give them another couple weeks in the 10 gallon. Your advice has been really helpful - it's been YEARS since I raised bettas... I think I was 9 years old the first time. The egg yolk worked great. Here's the proud papa's picture - from when I bought him on...

    Melano Copper babies

A while back I bought a pair of Melano Copper bettas from bluebetta (Suporn) on aquabid and after a fumbled attempt at spawning, I now have baby bettas. My babies are over 2 weeks old. It's not a really big spawn, but there are somewhere between 35-50 little ones. That's not bad for their...

    mouth fungus???

I agree with you. I actually started treating with Furan2 as soon as I got off the computer. I appreciate the advice! I'm pretty sure it's columnaris too...

    mouth fungus???

Thanks, SRC. With the shipping they've just gone through that makes some sense. I used Aquarisol, like I said... do you think that's enough? I could do a round of Furan.

    mouth fungus???

I just received my new Melano Copper HM betta from an auction I won on aquabid - before it shut down! He looks good, but just might have a touch of fungus on his mouth - probably from darting at the female. I treated the tank with Aquarisol, which seems to be what every betta person uses...

    NEED HELP

I keep a lot of goldfish, and can offer a little advice... The first place to look when they get sick is your water quality. I change about 75% of my water every 3 days on my goldfish. Do you know what kind of readings you have? Ammonia? Nitrates? KH? What's your pH? ...if you're having a...
