dwarf gourami, german rams You beat me to it!  :) Just make sure if you do livebearers that you stick with males... they are more beautiful anyways and you don't want to be over run with babies.

I think they prefer their own species but have read that they will shoal with other varieties too.

Is your house really cold?  I don't think the temp would drop too much in one day.  If it does start to drop maybe add some warm water every few hours?

Yes he is a dwarf.  That was my first suspicion but he (or she) is really mellow even my cories don't swim away when it swims near.  None of my neons or other Danios have any fin damage.  Just this one.  It's weird.   actually none of the fish swim away from it.

what are you testing your water with?  With the API liquid test I have found that you need to shake the bottles up a bit and the reading is more accurate.  If your tank it planted and not fully stocked then the nitrate can stay 0 or close to it.  My nitrate is pretty much always 0, I have a...

I woke up this morning and noticed that my GGR has a HUGE pink stomach.  Is this a pregnancy or maybe it's sick?  I'm worried.  It is still eating and acting normal.

I ended up bringing her back and getting one with a straight spine however almost all the rams in the tank had curved spines... some were almost an s curve.  I think it's a birth defect the more I read on it from poor breeding.
