My betta is in a 5g too and is perfectly happy, has plenty of room. If you put him back in with the tetras he will just get nipped again and might end up with fin rot/infection (so would be a waste of time letting him heal).

I might buy some small plastic tanks, they dont cost much. Hopfully they will be like my guppies and mainly produce female fry (though males are probably easier to sell?).

You could be right, they had been hastling her for a while and her tail had been nipped, i think i may have to reduce my males as i have too many in the tank, either that or i up my females but i will then end up with far too many fry.

Thank you, most of the fry born so far have been conceved at the pet shop (not from my males) so hopfully when they breed with my males i will start getting more male fry (and the colours i want), i have several males and 6 females so at some point i should get some males.

If you have other fish in the tank i would treat it anyway, if it is ich it can live in the filter for a while and infect the other fish. I think sometimes these things just happen (sometimes due to water quality, temprature change or infection from other fish).

How many of your fry survive to be adults? My first guppy fy (8 which i fished out of the tank) all survived. 1st lot of baby Mollys (10 fished out of the tank) and only one survived. 2nd lot of guppies (12) seem to be disapearing and a few seem to be deformed so i dont expect many to survive...

I have a fussy betta that will only eat bloodworm (turns his nose up at anything else) so she might just be fussy.

I feed liquid fry food for 2 days and then crushed flake, i feed mine 3 times a day, the ones in my small fry tank are growing slowlly, the 2 that i couldn't catch that are still in my big tank are 3 times bigger (and only fed once a day).

That could be it then, i have white and blue gravel so it would be hard to see them. Will keep a close eye on the new ones, i am now cycling another tank and will keep it plain (without gravel) just for the molly fry.

You can leave her in the trap for a couple days as long as she isn't stressed. est thing to do is let her give irth in the tank, as long as you have plenty of plants and hiding places you will proaly still have quite a few fry. I let most of mine give birth in the tank but have netted my blue...

I have moscow blues (but not blacks), though i have one mail guppy who is almost pure black. I have found most colours of guppies that i have wanted by searching aquatic shops and privite sellers, was pleased to find blue snake skins a few weeks ago. Have never seen a pure white guppy though.

At the moment i have been doing water changes (using the gravel vacume) twice a week (sometimes more), the tanks not fully stocked but the gravel was quite dirty, maybe i am over feeding? The tank is 140ltr, has 4 mollys, one bristle nose plec (3 inches long) and 5 guppies.
