If you get some that don't take over, like a nice horned nerite. They add to the tank, for maintenance and another spin on life.

I've never quarantined snails.. never had any issues. Someone else may have more experience though.

My rummy nose has been swimming with her head facing upwards for a couple of days now. Guessing it's swim bladder. Should I put her out of her misery as she could be stressed and exhausted..?

Is it a fish in cycle? Dosing amonia? Or food break down?

I use Tetra aquasafe and only ever dose for the amount of water swapped out, about 30% Never had an issue.

I had a similar problem when starting off. Always attacked the tubing. Cleaned it off every water change. Once the tank matured, it stopped.

How long has this been set up? Looks like calcium build up. I think. Hard water possibly.

It doesn't but I've kept the plants in pots level with the gravel. I've barely watered them, when i have I've syringed tank water and put a few drops directly into the pot.

Personally I see them as a pest usually hitching a ride on a new plant. I wouldn't get them unless you have something to control the population or simply want a snail tank. Horned nerite are a nice little snail, good cleaners too.
