    HELP ME PLEASE

Photos? Do you use dechlorinator in your tank(s)?

I don't really want to put Gouramis with Angels...

You're right with the angels and gourami. They're not meant to be kept together. Tetras and kuhli loaches are schooling fish. Tetras like to be in groups of 8 or more, and kuhli loaches should be kept in a group of 5 as a minimum. What snails were you thinking of getting? Plecos are fine with...

Proper Introduction according to forum sorry mods

Welcome! Those goldfish will need a lot of space, and aren't compatible with sharks like the bala sharks in your tank. As others have already said, you'd be better off with a pond than any tank with that sort of stock, since all the fish in that tank have the capacity to get well over a foot...

    coldwater fish FINALLY

Ooh, I had no idea! I really need to brush up on plants. Head's full of scientific names for moths and butterflies, not enough space for plants and fish!

    hi all

Welcome! What sort of tank size do you have/are you looking for? And what sort of plants?
  6. PlasticGalaxy

    Hi everyone !!

They can be but eventually you get into the rhythm and it's great fun!

    Hi everyone !!

Welcome! Your fish and tank are both gorgeous!

    coldwater fish FINALLY

Not sure. Barbs tend to be nippy, so maybe not? I've got no experience with either fish though, so I'd look for others' opinions.

    coldwater fish FINALLY

Didn't know you could keep frogbit in coldwater! Minnows are very sweet though, I think you'd like them.

    coldwater fish FINALLY

Ooh that looks fantastic. Are you going to do the same with the empty one next to it? ^^^ Duckweed engulfs everything. Covers rocks, other plants... Small frogs' heads. As nice as it looks when it's under control, it usually ends up making ponds look dirty and unkempt.

Is there a way to buy fish and not support the cruel industry?

Buy from local, family owned shops when possible, and/or only buy from reputable sources. Never buy fish from Glofish or other gimmick fish companies, and breed your own fish if you're able to. It won't destroy the "mainstream" fishkeeping market entirely but it'll help push it to the side and...

Pleco with white cotton like patch

Aww, he's really great. Does he have a name? My plec's my prized fish, too. Can't get enough of the little (not little at all) sweethearts.

Pleco with white cotton like patch

I wouldn't start medicating until you know for certain what the problem is. He's a gorgeous pleco, by the way. How long have you had him?

    coldwater fish FINALLY

Are you reading what I said? I'm not here to entertain you when I've already told you what my mistake was. Keeping fish in a full barrel would be, as I said, cruel and unusual. Then it became apparent that you didn't actually mean "barrel" and you meant planter instead, which I wouldn't see as...

Pleco with white cotton like patch

Oh, that looks grim! Could be some kind of fungus? I'd definitely keep an eye on him, since it looks pretty nasty. Keep an eye on this thread, since there's sure to be a few people with a few ideas as to what this could be.

    Finally

That's a pretty small tank! What are the dimensions? Would love to see it and all the plants!

    coldwater fish FINALLY

There's an exception to every rule! Please see my earlier reply. I'm assuming that mj and PK were thinking this, too.
  18. PlasticGalaxy

    coldwater fish FINALLY

Yeah, I was under the impression that it was an actual barrel, not one of the planter-type things.
  19. PlasticGalaxy

    coldwater fish FINALLY

You don't need fish to have plants. Again, why would you want fish in a barrel? It just sounds cruel and unusual. You don't need to put anything living in a barrel, to be completely honest. There's probably not even a point in measuring it, since barrels aren't exactly a suitable substitute for...

    Shrimp population explosion

Ah, Kent over here! That's a shame. You might be able to post them through a 24hr courier with the right supplies in the future. Would definitely have to be something you consider before jumping into it, since it can be a little risky.

    Shrimp population explosion

Agreed with EllRog, your LFS may take them in return for store credit. You may also be able to sell a couple on Gumtree or wherever else. Depending on where you're located, I wouldn't mind taking in a few at some point in the near future.

Plans For a Catfish Tank (170L)

Again, I'm very aware of the bioload that comes with a plec like that. I understand if it wasn't your intention to paint me as an idiot but I can assure you that I'm well aware of the requirements, needs and challenges that come with a pleco of his size, if that's what you're worried about...

Plans For a Catfish Tank (170L)

Gotcha. Since I'm not able to get more kuhlis for an uncertain amount of time (LFS is completely out and is the only place local that had them) I may attempt to rehome them since I must say I don't find them the most exciting fish ever. I'm not rehoming the pleco. I've said this many, many...

Plans For a Catfish Tank (170L)

I may rehome the red tail shark at some point, he's known to lunge for the gourami and has occasionally gone for tetras. Any reason why corys and loaches shouldn't be kept together? I'm aware that the sailfin pleco can grow quite large. He's currently 6 inches and has plenty of room in the...

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

Ahhh, my most expensive was the sailfin plec. $25 USD! Felt like fainting when I saw the price. Didn't even know what species it was, could have been a common and I would have been severely overpaying for it. Lucky me that it wasn't, I guess?
