KINDLY POST A FISH OF YOURS

Oh, those guys. Totally forgot about them. They’re red bellied piranhas - can’t remember if they were mine or if it’s a picture I lifted from the net. There was a period when I thought they were really cool, and then I got them and realised they’re a bit boring after a while.

Chubby piranhas??? 😂😂😂 They’re geophagus altifronz. I went through a period about 10 years ago when I went geophagus mad, so they were in all of my tanks.

American Cichlid set up - advice needed please!

American cichlids can be a pleasure to keep, and probably my favourite group of fish. You didn’t mention the dimensions of your tank, but I’m assuming 168l is 3ft? It’d also be good to know your water parameters (pH, GH & KH) as different species have different tolerances. Once you know those...

    Solid Oak Fish Tank Suppliers

I have one of the 4ft Aqua Oak setups and they are really nice - really well built and good quality. Why do you want a solid wood cabinet though? Is it because you like the effect? Or because they’re more robust than the usual chipboard cabinets? If it’s the latter then it might be worth looking...

Jack Dempsey cichlid. Really pretty American cichlid, but quite aggressive too.

I think the setup with rainbows would be really cool and reckon they’d make a really good contrast with red rainbows. The EBJD would be amazing too - I’ve wanted to keep them for a while but have stayed away due the deformities you hear about. My nic is still in quarantine with a group of...

What name should we use to Identify our fish.

Personally, I think people should use either, depending on what they’re most comfortable with. As long as everyone is clear which species/group is being referred to, I don’t think it’s a big deal. It’s true that common names can be misleading as they’re sometimes applied differently in different...

    Which tank setup

I quite like the option of the peaceful mbuna and peacocks together. I was wondering whether 4ft is a bit of a tight squeeze for peacocks though. How many fish in total do you think I could fit in it? Maybe 5 peacocks and 8-12 mbuna? Or is that too much?

    Which tank setup

Yeah, everything I’ve ready says mbuna are the most aggressive group of Malawi cichlids. I was actually thinking about the more peaceful ones - yellow labs, rusty cichlids and yellow tailed acei. They seemed like a safe bet but would still provide lots of colour. But then again, I’ve wanted to...
