Will these rocks raise the PH my betta tank?

Update: I just pulled out a stone, scratched up part of it with a pair of pliers, and poured a little white vinegar on it. I know vinegar is a weak acid, but it didn't fizz. I guess they also look a little like ryuoh or seiryu stones, as well? I really have no idea

Will these rocks raise the PH my betta tank?

Hi all! I picked up some really sweet rocks (which I believe to be "elephant skin stones", though they were not labeled) yesterday, cleaned them, and added them to my tank. The LFS staff said that this stone won't affect PH, but I am concerned after doing some research. Some sources say these...

Nano tank stand sitting on tack strip?

Thanks for the advice, I’m going to move the stand out about an inch and a half. And that’s great to know about temperature! My window is almost exactly north-facing and get just a little direct light before the sun sets.

Nano tank stand sitting on tack strip?

Ok awesome, thank you! And yes, I’m super paranoid about stands failing, haha... for now it is on a small wire rack (800lb shelf capacity) and I will be getting a UNS aquarium stand soon!

Nano tank stand sitting on tack strip?

Average winter temperatures here are in the mid 30’s (F). So not very cold, but it definitely isn’t warm year-round :)

Nano tank stand sitting on tack strip?

Hey all, I have a couple of questions for you about stand placement! I've got a 7-gallon rimless cube on a 32" tall heavy duty wire rack (the tank sits directly on a 1" thick slab of hardwood). I live in a fully carpeted fourth-floor apartment. Today, I pulled a corner of the carpet back to...

Urgent - Scale Discoloration and Peeling

Hey, just an update -- Queenie still has some scale discoloration, but she made it through the move and has been doing great!

Should I use wood on top of wire rack shelves?

Hi all, I'm setting up a couple of new tanks and purchased a wire shelving unit from Uline. It is labeled "industrial" shelving and has a weight capacity of 800 pounds (assuming this is per unit not per shelf, but it isn't very clear). This is the unit! I'm only putting two 7 gallon cube tanks...

Urgent - Scale Discoloration and Peeling

Hi! Last week, I noticed Queenie had a grey patch behind her left eye. This seems to have developed while I was on a week-long vacation. A fellow betta owner fed her twice a day, and I performed a water change the day before leaving and the day I returned. I couldn't tell if Queenie had scraped...

New Betta - help identifying color/pattern?

Thanks! And good call, combtail definitely fits! I noticed her pronounced rays but they didn't seem as long as crowntail rays. May as well add another update as she continues to marble. Both of her eyes are almost totally dark now! Added a lot of water sprite so the photo is a little dark --...

New Betta - help identifying color/pattern?

Thanks, I was lucky to find her! She has a great personality, too... cute, feisty, and acts like I never feed her! :)

New Betta - help identifying color/pattern?

Figured I’d post an update -- her colors have developed a lot over the last two weeks, definitely because of better tank conditions (and probably because of marble gene?). She looks like a different fish! I added some driftwood which is leaching tannins, so the tank looks a little warmer in...

Thank you both so much for the info! I've pretty much only had male fish, so I'm a little new to eggs :D

    Female Betta gravid or bloated?

Hi! I got my female betta about a week ago. She came home looking a little chubby but was super active. She is still very active and a voracious eater, but her belly looks bigger. Could she be gravid? She was in a bowl next to the male bettas in the LFS, and has had a prominent ovipositor since...

New Betta - help identifying color/pattern?

Hi all! I went to the LFS planning to pick up some plants and a few more amano shrimp... and I left with a lovely betta named Queenie. I recently lost the fish in my 5.5 gallon, so it has been sad and unoccupied for the first time in almost two years -- needless to say, I'm glad to have...

I put poor Cheese out of his misery, thank you for all your help, Colin_T

    Lethargic Gourami

Well, I just checked on Cheese and he isn't looking good... He can't swim well at all, spirals to the bottom of the tank and floats listlessly. He wont/can't eat, even if I cup him in my hand near the surface. I'm considering euthanizing him because I don't want him to suffer all night, but he's...

    Lethargic Gourami

Thanks for the awesome info, Colin_T -- and I will make sure to post on an existing related thread rather than making a new one in the future! I'm not sure why the top of his head looks sunken, it has definitely developed since he has been sick. I'm so stumped about his illness since his...

    Lethargic Gourami

Hi all, Two weeks ago, I posted about my Honey Gourami, Cheese, who I suspected had internal parasites. Now he has some new symptoms. He has been pale for about two weeks and had stringy poo, so I fed him food mixed with Seachem Metroplex, Focus and Garlic Guard to avoid medicating the whole...
