Thank you Jadzir. It's good to know from someone who owns it. Do you think I could put it together alone?

That's the tank I'm hoping to buy for my living room once the fireplace has been removed! Would you recommend it?

    First tank, Superfish 80l

They are the 'peaceful' honey gouramis  The 70l was put together in a hurry for them so it's nothing special. Here it is, the holey rocks are where Socket hides.

    Breeding honey gouramis

Thank you for that. It sounds like my gouramis might be related to those! The behaviours are almost identical. I've isolated them in a new tank whilst the first lot of fry sit in another tank in a breeding box covered with a stocking to stop them leaking out. They keep breeding too! My guy...

    First tank, Superfish 80l

So, Fork and Socket have moved to their very own, brand new 70l (tank 4 including my planted bowl - MTS has struck). There is a system of holes and caves for Socket to hide, plus water sprite and planted plants for hiding too. It is working well. They had produced eggs in the breeder tank (3rd...

    Breeding honey gouramis

Has anyone else tried breeding them? I have a few from an unexpected (within 24 hrs of getting them) breeding and wondered if there is a point at which it is critical to keep the air humid and warm for them to develop their labyrinths, or must it be so from day one?

    Planaria or Rhabdocoela

They don't look quite right for planaria because they don't have the 'crossed eyes'. Is the pointy end the bottom or front? If it's the trailing end I'd fairly confidently say they are not planaria.

    Petsmart/petco

I am amazed at how cheap your tanks are over there!! No wonder every other person seems to have 55 gallons+. My 80l tank cost £170, if I remember rightly. That's $240 for around 20 gallons! This country is such a rip off

    Planarium?

No that's great. I thought they were dangerous. I could actually do with fewer fish eggs!

What Fish Do You Regret Buying?

My pair of honey gourami. Peaceful my a##e (British saying)! They terrorised my peacock gudgeons to the point that I've had to buy them a new tank, stand, decor and plants. Most expensive fish I've bought so far! And they won't stop mating.

    Planarium?

I think I've spotted a planarium. Should I do something about it? If so what should I use (I'm in the UK so may not have access to some medication used elsewhere)?

    Help betta fins look ragged

Every day water changes might be taking it a bit far! But if it is fin rot (and I'm hoping someone else might come along and confirm it) then I gather it's due to the tank needing more frequent or deeper cleaning. Do you test your water to check that there isn't a problem there, including...

    Just a few questions...

Once the tank has been cycled you can match the pH to the fish requirements, it won't affect the bacteria.

    Help betta fins look ragged

It might be fin rot. You said you change water every two weeks, do you have a filter for the rest of the time? How much water do you change? It may be that you need to increase the changes. https://www.fishforums.net/threads/what-to-do-if-your-fish-gets-sick.450268/ Might be helpful for...

    Just a few questions...

There is a cheap, easy way to add CO2, assuming you can get or make it. You just upend a plastic bottle of tank water within the tank itself, add CO2 via tubing and a weight to the mouth of the bottle to keep it upside down. CO2 then gradually dissolves into the water as it is taken up by the...

It is awful what is happening now. How Boris Johnson can even consider relaxing things when we are in a 4th wave is appalling. Nitrate removal

Alternatively then, my tap water is currently low in nitrates (it can vary a fair bit). It seems unlikely all the nutrients are perfect. What a shame if that's the case. I've been desperately looking for a way to counteract high nitrates in my tap water since, according to the water board, they...

Sorry! Can't be pregnant, but could be full of eggs. She's an egg layer, not a livebearer. :)

I know its not a need but should I use uv lighting?

It could kill any beneficial bacteria. It could kill bad bacteria too. But, I have read that the amount of time spent in the uv light is too little to make a significant dent in anything. The water goes through too fast. Hence it is a rather useless piece of kit.

That looks like you may need to do the full cycle of 3ppm rather than 1ppm. The cycle is clarified, with a walk-through, here https://www.fishforums.net/threads/cycling-your-new-fresh-water-tank-read-this-first.421488/

    Nitrate removal

That makes sense. My aquarium is currently very lightly stocked, especially after I had to remove the gouramis for aggression. It also has a fair few plants and 'passive' CO2 from an upturned plastic bottle. Maybe they have resorted to using nitrates whenever the ammonia has gone? It sounds a...
