    Api Test Kits

Hi Tom, what I was saying above was that you can't just buy a bottle of reagent, you've got to buy the relevant test kit with test tube instructions, packaging etc, all increasing the cost of what you actually want.

    Api Test Kits

Unfortunately they don't sell just the replacement reagent bottles, you have the buy test kit you want eg run out ammonia you need to buy the ammonia test kit. Wish they would do something about this.

    My 11 Week Old Tank

They start as yellow spots, then to holes and then the whole leaf. I have put some potassium tabs at the Roos of one them, then if it works I'll be able to tell the difference. Also got a koralia 1600 in now to increase the flow round the base of the plants. If none of this works the it's CO2 I...

Is This A 10 Day Cycle,

No issues taken, all part of a healthy debate Hi Snazy, I added 6 Colombian tetras on day 12, 2 days after getting zero ammonia and nitrite, then doubled up every week. Never seen ammonia yet and I am now fully stocked

Is This A 10 Day Cycle,

Cheers for that very interesting read, I am inclined to agree. I initially planted bucket loads of cabomba and Hygrophilia which I believe are fast growing pants. So in summary, if you setup a planted tank, concentrate on getting good healthy plant growth, then you can do a fish-in cycle at an...

Is This A 10 Day Cycle,

No offence taken, but what are you sceptical of? Ask whatever you want, the results are correct, I'm just looking for an explanation Hi Ianho, on day 1 it was partially filled and planted with cabomba, Hygrophilia and lileopsis before filling completely, also added easylife fluid filter...

Is This A 10 Day Cycle,

The dechlor came with substrate so something by Caribsea I guess. I really have no idea of how to explain my tests during this cycle. There are certainly all accurate, I even did a neighbours tank while he was cycling to ensure the ammonia test was working right, as I was expecting to see some...

    New Additions

I decided today that I would return three female German blue rams and exchange them something else, as I already have a breeding pair. So off to the LFS again for a look around, not that local at 30 miles but i am very fussy who I buy my fish and advice from. Anyway, they had some nice fish...

Is A 10 Day Cycle Possible

Hi all, I posted this on the tropical discussion forum but I am not getting much feedback, so thought it might be better in here. If I'm wrong to move it, please let me know. The link is below with the details of what happened, I just want to know if a 10 day cycle is possible as all the...

Is This A 10 Day Cycle,

Hi Nobody, thanks for the response. I am just trying to understand the mechanisms here so here are the answers to your questions. Caribsea do live fresh water substrates as well, see This link, I used Moonlight sand. The pH was 7.8 at the time of initial fill and dropped to 7 over the course of...

Is This A 10 Day Cycle,

I need to understand something now I am more knowledgeable than when I first wrote a thread about live sand. I believe a cycle is defined as when ammonia and nitrite have zeroed out and nitrates are produced, this could be my first wrong assumption. When I first filled my tank at the start of...

    Changing From Gravel To Sand

Just for interest I got caribsea live sand, the trpoical version. Worked really well for me, never had ammonia show since the day I filled up, but had 0.25 nitrite fot the first ten days. Thereafter, zeros all the way

    Plant Diagnosis Needed

Got the koralia 1600 in the tank yesterday, no more dead spots . Really pleased with it, and there is the bonus of crud not settling at the front of the tank where it is so obvious. So at this point I am now dosing TPN+ and excel daily, and now with a good flow around the roots, how long I'd...

    Koralia Totally Changes Tank Dynamics

I've read somewhere on here that it can be rectified by turning it on and off to get rid of entrapped air, so I've tried this to no avail. I have also read you do something with an air pipe and the shaft but not entirely sure how to do this, and don't want to wreck the balance. I think I'll...

It's definitely a pukka koralia, brand new today. Just checked the leads and nothing is touching, it's the actual unit. Don't know why that went on three times lol Took advice from here and took advantage of my good relationship with the LFS and got it on return if I don't like basis. Paid a...

Is There Any Truth In This

    Koralia Totally Changes Tank Dynamics

Well I finally bit the bullet today and bought a koralia 1600 for my 200 litre tank. I ummed and arred for for a couple of weeks about this as I was comparing the specified flows of both the 900 and the 1600 with my 750 lph filter, and didn't want to blow my tank contents to high heaven. Turns...

    Is Anyone Here A Landlord?

In a nutshell, if you make sure the house/flat is in good nick before you rent, vet the tenents properly and trust your gut feeling about them,it is generally a stroll in the park.
