  I had him 7 months which, after a quick search, seems to be a good run for him as the whole of that 7 months was struggling to get him to eat something :(   They are well known for being fussy eaters and a lot of people end up losing them within the first 1-2 months so I'm glad I had him for 7...

  Rasboras can live quite happily with Betta's when in the correct group size. These ones may be nippy because there are only 3 of them rather then the recommended 6 :) They become more nippy the lower their numbers.

I'd say most likely the guppies or the Rasboras.   The guppies because they can be nippy towards each other guppies and betta's don't get on. The rasboras because there is only 3 of them.

Firstly - It should not be in your tank. The only rainbows suitable for your tank(40l) are Dwarf Rainbow species like Forktailed, etc. These Rainbows are the bigger and more chunky species and need longer and bigger tanks than yours.   Secondly - They need groups of 6+. Not pairs. They are...

Well, I have sad news :(   I should have known something was wrong when he started coming out more because it was completely out of character for him.... I woke up this morning to find my Blonde Rubber Lip Plecostomus(Chaetostoma formosae) dead on the bottom of the tank :(

Well.... Updates are needed here lol. This tank(My little BBG tank) has changed a lot! The plants have taken off since putting the new light on the tank, however - So has Hair Algae I took LOADS out tonight and then did a waterchange to get the rest out and I have upped the dosage of Easy Carbo...

Will get some updated pictures in a bit when I have done all the tank maintenance but it seems to be going upside down right now :(   My small tank has taken off in both plants and hair algae and my big tank is starting to go down hill :(

From that picture, I would actually say male and female as the one on the left is thinner/more streamlined and does not have a pink belly. Or two females, one of which looks pretty masculine :)

Otto's need groups of 6+ and they need heavily Algae Filled tanks unless you have them weaned onto Algae Wafers and stuff like that. So a 5-10 Gallon is what I would consider minimum.

And there are also cases of male betta's having egg spots or Ovipositors. As mentioned, a picture would help a lot. If it's fins are as long as a males then I would be inclined to say male. You can get long finned females but not females with fins as long as a HM/Delta male.
