    Help snails!

Thank you everyone for all your advice. At the moment they are small and I don’t really see them much so I’ll probably just leave them in there to eat so leftover food and algae.

    Help snails!

Hi everyone it’s been a little while since I have asked a question. This morning I was looking in my tank and I noticed this little clear thing i at first though maybe it was an egg but then I looked at it from a different angle and I realized it was a tiny little snail. I then sought another...

Not sure if fish store sold me correct pleco species?

It is difficult to help you identify your plecos. It would help if you put some pictures up of your plecos so we can help identify them.

New 30 Gal (110L) Family community Tank project

It’s looking amazing! Your fish look healthy and I just love it! Do you still have the Cory’s because a big school of them would look really nice for some bottom activity.

    Possible Betta Sorority?

Sorry I totally blanked on the fact that a sorority is just females. There are defiantly a ton of different possibilities and people have a bunch of different opinions but it really is up to you to have the sorority. A good idea might be to start with one female and get her adjusted and slowly...

    Hi!

Yea the gravel should be fine. I only said that the 3 Cory’s should be added so they have a good sized school if you were to re-home one of the gouramis.
  11. Fishies4Ever

What size tank should I get for them in the future?

It’s hard to say what size tank they will need in the future. Currently you have a lot of fish that are aggressive and grow pretty large in a small tank. Most of the fish need at least a 55, but I would go to a 75 or even a 100 gallon tank. The albino red tailed sharks are normally very active...

    Possible Betta Sorority?

I think a beta sorority would probably work in a 30 gallon. I have never had a sorority myself because I haven’t wanted to take the risk. You probably could have about 3-5 or maybe more females in with the one male. Just make sure you are watching them very closely to see if there is any...

    Hi!

Your tank is a bit overstocked. Normally the rule is 1inch of fish per gallon but not in all cases. If the gouramis start to bully or attack each other I would re-home one of them so they don’t get severely hurt each other. The school of neons and rummy noses are ok size wise but I would add 3...

    Green stringy algae type growth

I am not really sure but I would recommend doing a water change and reducing the amount of lights to help prevent more algae growth. There is an article about algae growth in one of the forums which would be worth checking out if you haven’t already.
  16. Fishies4Ever

    Hi!

It is defiantly a very bright tank but the decorations look great! What size is the tank, and do you know if the dwarf gouramis are both male because they might show aggression and it is not recommended to keep more than one male but other than that looks amazing!!!

Looking to find the gender of redtail

Females appear a bit larger than males and females can have a more grey belly rather than a more black colored belly.

    blue Gourami aggressiveness, Help.

Sorry for the loss of some of your fish do to your gouramis aggression. Aggression is usually do to stress and they let it out on there tank mates especially if it’s a bit overstocked. I would not recommend euthanasia just because of aggression it just doesn’t seem right. I agree with some of...

    Betta fin rot?

I can’t really see the stripes but sometimes the cause of them is stress. They will also rip there own tail because of stress, illness or boredom. Not sure how to help with stress but does he have a lot of hiding spots? Are people constantly around the tank or does he ever try to hide when you...

Southern platy fish with white stringy poop, not eating and staying in the surface

I’m so sorry. Pretty difficult problem to deal with when your first start out. I personally don’t know how to treat this but I bet Colin_T would know. He’s really good at helping people with sick fish so I would find his account at the bottom and “start a conversation” with him or email him.
  21. Fishies4Ever

    A little bit about myself

It sounds like a great plan! You might get to size up soon. Your tank is a little small for that amount of fish especially since the guppies and platys reproduce.

Can I keep dojo loaches and a peacock eel together in the same tank?

That is a tough one. What size is your tank and can you put up a picture so we can see what it looks like and what kind of hiding spots they’ll have.
  23. Fishies4Ever

    Betta fin rot?

I am not sure how to treat it but Colin_T would probably know. He’s really good at giving advice for how to treat sick fish so I would maybe ask him to see what he says. For now keep doing the water changes and I think there is some kind of antibiotic you’ll need to get to help treat it.

    Red platinum guppy fry

Great video! The fry are adorable and I forget how tiny they can be. Nice little set up you have for them there too.

Wow thank you for the pictures. The one in the middle of the second picture is really pretty looking. He has a lot of fish in there!

    Need help with my Betta

He doesn’t look sick but he could just be trying to hide still thinking he could get attacked. I would get some live floating plants and put the in there to help give him cover.

    Ponds

Thank you for the suggestions just hoping that they will survive the winter here. I’ll probably just stick with the regular koi and not the carp kind just because I know they can get HUGE! The fathead minnows I think would be great I also have heard that white cloud minnows would work. I’ll keep...

    Ponds

Ok thank you for the tip. Do you have any recommendations for any other fish I could put in there with the koi? I live in New York so it can get pretty cold here but I am planning on putting in a pond heater during the winter. I am not sure how warm we will be able to heat it though because of...

    Ick on mollie's eyes?

It could be the start of cloudy eye. Which is normally caused by poor water quality so I would do a 30% water change. Could you put up a picture so we can see what it looks like to better identify what it is?
  31. Fishies4Ever

    Disappearing fry

Do you have a picture of your tank you could put up to see what it looks like and if the fry are maybe disappearing because they don’t have enough hiding spots.

is this tank good for kuhli loaches/stocking ideas please!!

I think it would be enough room for the kuhli loaches but I am not positive. Some honey gourami would defiantly look really nice in there or a beta. The kuhli’s need a group of 3-6 so 5 would be the perfect number. They like to dig so they won’t be seeing each other to much but they will still...

is this tank good for kuhli loaches/stocking ideas please!!

This is a beautiful tank!!!! This would be a great tank for a few kuhli loaches for sure or a school of Cory’s because of the fine substrate. I think a beta or a school of tetras would look beautiful! Is there a specific fish you are wanting to put in there or a certain color?

    Ponds

Wow your pond looks amazing! I am for sure doing a in ground pond as it can be very large and you don’t need as many materials. I am planning on renting a mini excavator eventually to dig it. It would be about 1000 gallons I am pretty sure. We have a sceptic system and a well so running into...
