    Thinking about a 60 gallon

The Lethrinops are very beautiful. I would probably go with the red cap. I was also researching for different options and I found these Aulonocara rostrstum - does get kind of big but so do some of my other ideas like the flavescent Super vc-10 hap - also gets kind of large Out of the two I...

    Betta tank, will this work?

That’s a good idea!!! I’ll have to check my floor and see if it will be able to support that much weight and if it does that’s a great idea.

    Betta tank, will this work?

Thank you for everyone’s input. I am going to have to brainstorm what I am going to do. I realize that the beta with the schooling fish might not be a very good idea so I might think of some different options for the 20 gallon. Does anyone have any other completely different ideas I could do...

    Thinking about a 60 gallon

That’s to bad I really liked the giraffe chiclid, what size tank do they need just for the one? What size tank does the Protomelas Marginatus need, because I would really like to have all the fish I chose and these two. I am not sure about the Sciaenochromis Fryeri because I want all the fish to...

    Betta tank, will this work?

I only have room for the 20 which seams weird since the 10 is smaller. I can only keep fishtanks in my room and it’s a small bedroom so I wouldn’t be able to have the 20,10, and 60 gallon. The 60 gallon will go on a stand across from my bed and the 20 will go on the dresser but I don’t have...

    Thinking about a 60 gallon

Ok I think I figured out a plan. These are the fish I am thinking about and if some of them don’t work that’s ok to and I’ll only do one of each except for the catfish. Ruby red peacock Bi- colour 500 Aulonocara turkis Deep water hap Protomelas marginatus Otopharynx tetrastigma Flavescent...

    Betta tank, will this work?

I do have a back up plan of a 10 gallon. Which I would put the beta in if there was any aggression. Since the betas are usually kept in a 5-10 gallon.

    dead fish

I am sorry for the loss of some of your fish. Could you put up a picture of your tank? Do you know about cycling a tank like captain barnacles said? How many gallons is the little tank? What fish do you have in there and how many?

    Betta tank, will this work?

Thank so much for this advice!! I do feel pretty good about the ember tetras and the beta. I will introduce the beta after the embers so that way he doesn’t take the whole tank for himself and then the embers will be forced into his territory if you know what I mean. It definitely has a good...

    Betta tank, will this work?

Thank you I have seen people test dressers to see if they can hold the weight of a fishtank by having a bunch of people sit on it and examine if it looks sturdy. I am not to worried about the water dripping I don’t usually spill and if I do I instantly wipe it up. I will also have a good lid...

    Betta tank, will this work?

Thank you for the advice. I hadn’t realized. I have herd that schooling fish such as tetras are good with betas just as long as they are not super active and are fin nippers but I guess that info was incorrect.

    Betta tank, will this work?

I am planning on getting a 20 gallon long in a year or so. My first question is will it be okay to put a 20 gallon on a dresser? Most dressers I think can hold about 170 but the tank will weigh at least 225. My plan is to have one beta not sure what kind yet, 6 ember tetras, 5 panda Cory cats...

    Lids

Ok thank you I have never thought of that. I am not sure if I have a glass shop nearby but I’ll have to look and I might be able to just do a plastic lid that I cut myself.

    Geophagus and sand sifting

I am still learning about all the cichlid and the ones you are looking to get are gorgeous!!! If they do move around the sand a lot one of those aquarium tools would be worth investing in. It comes in a kit for plants and it help smooth out the sand if it gets bad. It would be a lot of work for...

    Lids

I am thinking about getting a 20 gallon and I am trying to find out how much it will cost for everything I want. I am trying to find a good lid but I can’t really find one. I want to get a 20 gallon long but with the filter how will any of the lids even fit?? I want a clear one so I can have a...

    Thinking about a 60 gallon

Thank you for all the advice everyone I greatly appreciate it. The people at the pet store just used a strip test which I feel like is not usually super reliable. I have liquid test with the test tubes for everything but water hardness so I will have to get a good quality water hardness tester...

    Thinking about a 60 gallon

I just had my water tested at pet smart. They said it is about 70 ppm so I think it is pretty hard. I am not sure how accurate it is though but I am going to assume it is correct.

What’s new (fish related chat only)

I watched some YouTube video about Tanked yesterday. They said that they had a few disasters such as one of the circular tanks had a crack in the bottom and they were able to glue it luckily. They also said when they did a lot of the reveals they would put a lot of fish in but after they would...

    Thinking about a 60 gallon

Wow thank you for all this advice!!! It sounds like an amazing variety of cichlids. I can live without having live plants in there cause they are difficult to keep after. Would this be an all male tank or would there be some females to? Would it be possible to go with the red variant of the...

    Moving on up!

I would go with the HOB but only if you don’t add the shrimp. It would be more powerful and better to clean the tank I would think and it will help the tank look not so cluttered without the 2 sponge filters. Your tank is beautiful right now can’t wait to see what your 40 gallon looks like when...

Does anyone know what this is on my fish?

Could you put up some more pictures and are you talking about the white dots. If so then it is most likely ich. There are ich treatments you can order online or buy in your local fish store. You can also raise the temperature in the tank but I would research that because I’m not sure for how long.

Does anyone have any advice. I did want to go with a lake tanganyika theme but I really just want the most amount of cichlids possible I guess. Thinking about a 60 gallon

This is kind of my plan for my 60 gallon with the picture below. Under the big rocks I would have a cove for shell dwellers or Neolamprologus caudopunctatus with a substate of sand just in that area. Then for the rest of the substate I would have dirt or a substrate good for plants and have a...

    How do new fish introduction

It will take them a little while to adjust to the new environment and they will slowly get used to their new tank maters so just give them some time. As for the clamped fins there are a ton of reasons for this such as stress, poor water quality, early sign of ich, etc so just keep an eye on them.

Not sure what forum this would be good in. I am thinking about getting a 60 gallon tank in about a year or so. Help Algae!!

My grandparents have an outdoor fish pond. It is an 8x4 and I am not sure how tall it is but maybe 4 feet? My grandma is usually the one to clean it and it’s been a real struggle.
