    FLEAS!! GAH!

The Santa is not me. It is the PetSmart Santa. The arm is mine. I am indeed an elder and let me tell ya after 4 hours of work at the pond today and 6 yesterday I feel every day of my 70 plus years. Not that I mind considering alternatives. Linda has the green thumb. She just makes use of my...

    FLEAS!! GAH!

Yes Seresto. Serrrento is our local deli. Must have been hungry when typing. The collar is very effective. We change them at six months. Like many we used Frontline, the Frontline Plus, then Advantex. Each proved ineffective after a time although each worked well initially. Our property has...

Managed to till Linda's veggy patch yesterday and helped her rake it afterwards. It is now covered in a black permeable fabrin...

    What are you doing today?

Bit ny a recluse some years back. Extremely painful and the venom literally melted my flesh. The pain and aftereffects lasted several weeks. I do not hate spiders but hold them in the same regard I hold snakes, necessary evils.

    What are you doing today?

Today is vet day. Two dogs and a cat get annual check ups and whatever shots are needed. This afternoon Linda wants her veggies garden tilled. Back in the day a very big job. Now not so much, about 400 sq feet. Seasoned horse manure and lime were played in last fall, the plot tilled deeply and...

    Losing color

Thank you and that makes sense. We are not feeding anything labeled colored enhanced so this makes sense. In my limited research yesterday I came across stress as a possibility so read up a bit on signs of stress. Although we observe the tanks for pleasure it has not been with a critical mind...

I am beginning to believe the Asian monsoon season has moved to my corner of the world. The bog now looks like just another puddle, the skill is well over its banks, what was an island that did not exist is now ready for rice, and my porch roof has developed a drip. As a bonus the rain catchment...

My friend Jim sent this picture. Taken at our get together. We were at about 96% I was told. At the beginning of the eclipse the bird garden became relatively quite and the pond fish went into the hidey spots. After the eclipse the birds sang again and the goldfish reappeared looking for...

Do you think fish remember each other???

I think one definition of intel is the ability to adapt your surroundings to meet your needs. Humans, so far have been able to that and then make more changes to offset unintended consequence. Second measure is the ability to anticipate how an artificial change will affect what happens later...

    Random Discussion

All advancements in communication are looked at by some as a means of control or at least a method off influence, and after all that is what communication is today. I remember the internet of the 80’s. I also remember the biggest concern was how to monetize it. When my company joined that...

I think I will be a Luddy. I do not want to lose the thrill of learning by doing. I have little use for much of what passes for knowledge in my everyday life. Does not mean I ignore the inputs or recognize their effects on my life. Just means I have no interest in the mechanics of them. I hope...

    What are you doing today?

This morning Linda and I will tidy up the pond area for company. We are well positioned for the eclipse and decided to throw a small party. Cleared my workshop of wood scraps last night to help the bonfire along and scavenged a couple small dead standing trees from the woods late afternoon. Need...

As Essjay pointed out after the cataract removal I will be limited for a couple weeks or so. She is more than competant so I have no worry. She participates in every aspect of this hobby already. BUT I do not want Linda lifting marble stones, digging out forms, or hauling stone dust regardless...

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

Not bright enough to have an opinion, unpopular or otherweise on the subject of Tropical Fish. BUT I have an unpopular opinion on lake trout. In summer lakers are best caught by scraping the bottom of the lake with an ols anchor followed by a long line downrigger over the scraped area close to...
