Me too!! I think when they advised you not to remove the fish, they would think that the fish was in a proper tank! I never remove my fish, but they’re in an aquarium! The water conditioner should just be mixed into the new water...not with the fish on it. That’s why I told you to lower the jar...

Re - use of the net - yes you’ll probably have to use the net to put it back in the jar, but it’s a far from Ideal situation for him. A sudden change of water will cause him a great deal of stress

Just checked...bottled water is better than tap water, so yes. It shouldn’t be stone cold though...I think your idea of the hot water bottle at the side of the tank is a good one for now.

Just looked it up..if you boil the water for 20 mins, this should dissolve all the chlorine’s and bad stuff. You should then be able to use the water as soon as it has cooled

I’ve had a couple of betta fish who lived for several years...mine loved to swish his tail around the tank, and always swam up to the front of the tank in a kind of ‘greeting’ fashion whenever I walked in the room. If your fish is not moving...he must be so miserable...and if he’s lost colour...

I would euthanise him, as he is going to slip away. I use clove oil when all else fails..which is a gentle way, it will put him to sleep first if done correctly..look on the internet. I think that’s the humane way to go. Never ever trust sales people. I’ve rarely had good advice from them.

Surely even a common household bucket would be better than the container he’s in at the moment?? At least you’d be able to change the water, fish out the debris , keep him warm and even put some decor in, until you can get him a more permanent home?

Is it not possible to go to a social media site or a ‘marketplace’ site where there are aquarium accessories for sale? Usually, there are tanks and entire decor with filter and heater at a fraction of the cost. I’m in the UK and seen plenty of groups dedicated to all your aquatic needs.
