Yeah, so I'm going to have the dwarf sag as a carpet in the front , and I'll keep it trimmed so there should be plenty of space above it.

I'm using API test strips. I know that they aren't the best, but someone gifted them to me, and there's only like 5 strips in the pack. When I run out I'll get the API master test kit. And yes, it is 30ppm.

Ambulia, ludwigia repens, dwarf sag, crypt wendtii, rotatable rotundiifolia, and juncus repens. Will any of these not need root tabs, or should I just give them to all of them? I will be dosing a liquid fertilizer as well. Substrate is sand.

Haven't ordered yet(still anxiously trying to consider every possible scenario lol), but I think I'll be getting them from aquariumplants.com. I might get some ghost shrimp later, but if I do, I'll get some cheap feeder shrimp so it's not a huge deal if they die. Plus, betta might eat them anyways.

So I'm ordering some plants online, but I need to know what to do after they get here. Do you have to acclimate them to the water temps or something? The tank isn't set up at all yet. Pearlweed, rotala indica(rotundiifolia), crypt, dwarf sag, juncus repens, and ludwigia repens are the species...

Water sprite it is! Is thalictriodes okay for floating(it's the variety that I've found on the site I want to get my plants from)?

Currently planning an upcoming 10g betta and ghost shrimp tank. Was wondering whether to get frogbit or water sprite as a floating plant. Frogbit seems more annoying, but maybe more aesthetically pleasing? Does water sprite block less light than frogbit? Does anyone have pics of water sprite...

So the plants I'm considering are ambulia, dwarf sag, red tiger lotus, cryptocoryne wendtii, ludwigia, and water sprite(probably gonna float this). I'll probably get some cholla wood(planning on having some shrimp), and substrate will be black sand. It'll be a betta tank. Opinions on arrangement...

So I'm considering using Fish For Thought's idea and putting organic potting soil under sand in my planted aquarium. Just double checking, is this a good idea? Will it help with growing a carpet of dwarf sag? And is there anything I should avoid or look for in types of soil?

So I live out in the country and get my water from a well, so there's no chlorine, but we have a lot of minerals in the water, and a lot of copper, which I assume is a problem. Will normal water conditioners deal with heavy metal s like that?

Would it work for me? It'll be running a small sponge filter in a planted 10g betta tank. I've read complaints about the lack of strong air flow, but maybe because of the plants and because I'm not overstocking at all, maybe the small amount of air flow wouldn't matter a huge amount for me?
