    Book quotes

Hi everyone. I am writing a book about mollies, and I have pretty much all the information I need for the regular mollies (not balloon mollies). I am looking for molly raisers to add in quotes or tips on raising these fish, things that not every book has. Please post any interesting facts or...

    Balloon mollies

I recently got some balloon mollies, and they are going to be having fry soon. I learned that they are hybrid fish bred form a deformity and I have received mixed results on how humane this is. Byron and NickAu already shared their opinions. What do you think?

    New Mollies

Hi everyone. I just got 11 new mollies and one danio, and I'm putting them in 10-gallon tanks. These are the new fishes names and descriptions: Firey- A vibrant orange-striped male molly named after BFDI's beloved Firey. Sunshine (Ozark Sunshine)- A orange-striped male balloon molly. Does an air stone make a difference?

If you have good water movement from the filter, you don't necessarily need an air pump.

    freeze dried blood worms

Too many bloodworms aren't good for fish.

    freeze dried blood worms

What fish do you have/want to feed the bloodworms to? For any fish, you shouldn't feed them more than a few worms a day no more than three days a week.

    an unwanted snail

Snails will often eat live plants along with dead ones and can look unsightly crawling along the glass; not my opinion, though.

Wanted: fish/inverts to a good home

Sometime this year, I will be getting some more fish/inverts. If you have any of the following that you want to give away or sell for a small re-homing fee, or you know of somewhere I could get them (no chain-stores; somewhere where they need a good home) just let me know. Please don't assume...

    Will my guppy have fry?

Yes, due to the gravid mark (black spot on the belly), she's pregnant. Congratulations! Feel free if you have any other questions.

    an unwanted snail

Maybe you can get some assassin snails if the methods Collin posted don't fit into your schedule; they eat pest snails but leave other inverts/fish/plants alone. They are not that good at quickly taking down large populations but are good for preventing them.

    My tanks

I got some more fish today! Plus some more aquarium plants. I got two more male bettas (one show-quality turquoise/red doubletail and one orange/black-tipped doubletail) for my 10-gallon sorority, (took out the guppies) a blue moon crowntail (I think) female, and two different types of sword...

Angel fish and other tank mates

By loaches I mean Kuhli loaches. And if you do have all male angelfishes, they should be okay; a school of maybe six cherry barbs might work as long as there's plenty of hiding spaces for the platies.
  34. Jessie J.

Angel fish and other tank mates

First off, your tank will need some adjustments. You definitely need to add more loaches; they can and usually do die from stress unless there are groups of at least seven. Second, the platies will be injured by the angels in breeding season. If you want to keep them both than add lots of...

    Plant Question

If you have a lot of algae you could try Mystery snails. They will eat plants though, if there's not enough algae, but if there is enough they work very very well and very quickly in groups.
  38. Jessie J.

    Plant Question

Get a few nerite snails to graze off the algae so you can keep the lights on for the plants.
