Black Skirt Tetras are NOT peaceful fish. These fish are no more better than ciclids. I have seen adults eat neon tetras.

The main thing is learning about the fish themselves, their tank requirements and their compatibility with other fish. Also make sure you preach the importance of cycling a tank and doing regular water changes
