Im new to this as well but I think you may have rushed it a bit. Maybe do a fishless cycle like Im doing or dont add anymore fish and hope the bacteria gets to work.

Just went to homebase and got my ammonia, with the calculater Ive measered 28 mls to put in. Ive waited over half hour now and ammonia showing a reading of between 4 and 8ppm on the chart. Do I test for Nitrite tomorrow or when I notice the ammonia dropping?

No Ive only had the tank for a week now so Im just getting established it was at 29 degrees when I first got the temp up, but turned the heater setting down last night and Ive just got it right at 24 degrees now. Thanks.

Another question on the filter. there is a bit where the water passes through the heater and then theres the bit with all the filter sponges the pump bit that sucks is that supposed to suck it from the filter bit or the heater side?
