Yay for Brexit! (this is really about aquatic plants)

So why not make lemonade? This could be a business opportunity for someone to develop a local aquarium plant business eh....or you could just moan and groan and get artificial plants eh?

    Badger's Sumatran Rice Paddy

Seemless tanks are very cool but usually I only see them as acrylic tanks. I usually don't see seemless glass tanks unless they are on the small size < 10 gals.

    Badger's Sumatran Rice Paddy

Ah ha I forgot you only have 6" of water, looking forward to see your project. You are correct about acrylic being chemically welded, it's done with a thin liquid cement. I've been playing around with it and some scrap pieces. Not ready for a tank but I'm sure it's one of those thing that...

Size question - silly one really..

Seems to me since bigger and space is not a concern go big or go home eh? Gotta remember the tank will be cheapest thing you get, its the other stuff that will cost and for tanks that are in your size considerations thereno diffderence btwn 180 and 240s. good luck...

    Badger's Sumatran Rice Paddy

That sounds like a great idea, but you will still need a frame right? I don't mean to nitpick but I'm interested building one. A DIY tank is a great project but water is very heavy and the force of water pushing out is something to consider. Given my 55 center bar failure I think if I would do...

    A place 4 my questions & ponderings as I build a 34 Gallons (127L) tank

Ya got a very nice tank there, but I'm curious about the Bonsai - is that and actual bonsai tree or is it a drift wood trunk with java moss on top.?..I just never knew you can submerge a bonsai. If you can that makes for a great tank idea.

    My 260L tank aquascaping project

Tips and tricks for fish keepers

    1. Use super glue/silicon to create a wider base for the test tubes inthe API Master water quality test kits. Anything can be used to make them harder to tip over. 2. Buy refillable media cartridges for filters, instead of disposable cartridges. Speaking of refillable cartridges, if you are...

Plecos are great algae eaters but poop a lot

Think size, cichlids will eat anything that fits in their mouths and their mouths are pretty big I'm not sure shrimp will fit the bill, but there's always crayfish if you are determined to have both.

Well you've a chore ahead of you...gather what information you have and then go forth and do it....Lot of people have planted tanks...If I may, if you have a concern about fish digging up plant why not attach plants to rocks plant them add sand around the base and along with some rocks over...

    Fish keeping ethics - species

As some of the posts note wild caught vs farmed, is full of nuances. I've had that discussion with my LFS, and he agrees it's all very complicated. But generally most freshwater tropical fish are tank raised. Where it comes to be a problem, is that we as consumers want more status fish, fish...

    Fish keeping ethics - species

On the plus side of the invasive Plecos in FL, if one has a big tank one can get the plecos for free. Why buy when you can catch them yourself eh....I've heard that in FL tropical fish can be found in all the byways and canals due to escapees from the fish farms.

My 10gal quarantine tank to become a display

Ah ha - you don't have a"dedicated" quarantine tank as such...I suppose significant other "won't catch on" till she; trips over the tanks, notices the water splash floor damage, or the increased charges in the monthly water bill...but once she does there will be hell to pay....LOL.... :banana...

Plecos are great algae eaters but poop a lot

Yup it seems to me to that all "algae eaters" eat algae when they first get in your tank but then as they get bigger/older they seem to decide to eat/prefer r"eal food" more. I know my plecos Pete and Pan rarely scrape off the algae on my glass anymore sigh...

    55g Rebuild

It seems to me that the glass 55 tanks like the one pictured and what I also have suffer from a top frame that is a bit too thin in plastic thickness hence the hairline fractures of the center bar. But then again that why these 55's and 40 bow fronts are so affordable. I discussing with my LFS...
