Thanks everyone for all of your help. I’ve added some filter media from my cycled tank. Added more water sprite and anacharis to the tank. I will keep up with water changes as soon as Nitrite reads 0.25 or more.

Thanks all that have replied. I will reduce my feeding as suggested. I have added some anacharis and water sprite to the tank since I noticed the spike. I do have a cycled 240l, would adding some of the filter media from this tank to the uncycled filter help?

Sounds great! Yeh I would whip that box filter out for sure. The tank is way too nice to have that sitting in there.

I’m pretty certain you wouldn’t have to rescape. Just drain the water and then add fresh tap water back to the tank. It’s fairly common for the tank to cloud up.

I’m pretty sure the easiest thing to do is do a 100% water change if the sand isn’t settling.

Anacharis and water sprite are great. These photos were taken a few days apart during my silent cycle.

I think it’s a great idea. Notification emails aren’t all 100%. It would be so much easier to get a quick answer and to generally keep in touch with members with something like a group chat on messenger/whatsapp.

Poor fish! I can understand people want to add to their aquarium, especially during the pandemic. But we all know that postal/courier companies are all overworked and under staffed. I think a bit of patience (the ultimate buzz word in the fish world) and visit your LFS once it is safe to do so.

I did pick him out personally. I didn’t notice the crookedness in the shop haha. Probably down to my crooked eyesight making him look straight!!

I will do, I’ll carry out tests on my water daily. The next additions won’t be for a few weeks. Possibly a few swordtails. But I want to get a fry tank set up, before the swordtails and hopefully before my guppies get busy!
