Have you looked at the Pearl gouramis? https://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/trichopodus-leerii/ They're relatively peaceful, they can grow to about 12cm according to the website but I've not seen one that big before, others may have? You could have 1 male and 2 females if I'm not mistaken

I hear what you're saying matey, I think we've done all we can by way of making suitable suggestions though? I recommended the dwarf cichlids as your centrepiece fish as there are many beautiful and vividly coloured types to choose from. It appears you're more attracted to the gouramis which...

    What are you doing today?

It's so strange...how the same virus can manifest so differently in certain people, or in your granny's case not at all. Doesn't make sense. Sorry @JuiceBox52 that can't be easy news to digest 😕 nothing ever happens the way we plan them

80% daily if there's still nitrite lurking...have you tested your tap water by any chance?
  5. CaptainBarnicles

    Stuck mid cycle

How often are you doing water changes? I would definitely be increasing the amount you're changing out though, 30% isn't sufficient especially when you're still dealing with nitrite.

    What are you doing today?

It's a problem I don't mind having. The trouble is, I obsess over a particular plant and then can't stop buying as many as I can collect...until I see something else and have to have 50 of those too! I don't have the best climate for most things and they end up dying a tragic death. I cannot for...

    What are you doing today?

Today I managed to do nothing of what I had planned to do ... somehow I ended up repotting most of my house plants (which I'll hold my hands up and admit is becoming a problem...I may need help)...

UNS 60S - Tanganyikan Shell Dweller tank.

The API root tabs may be hard to find, seems like they're in high demand! I use the Seachem tabs, they're a hard plug rather than a capsule so you may want to try those as well?

Who here has a local fishkeeping scene?

Unfortunately not...maybe I should try and set one up 🤔 I do have a suspicion that it would just be me on my tod though  like the middle-aged aunty who's had one too many gins dancing alone on the empty dance floor at a wedding... I really relate to this, I'm glad I'm not alone...

UNS 60S - Tanganyikan Shell Dweller tank.

Looks lovely Wills, looking forward to seeing what you choose and how they get on. I've always wanted to have a go with some shell dwellers....I think I'm going to have to start buttering up Mr Barnicles for another tank, excuse me 🧈...

Best way to clean off the algae and crusty bits

Have you tried vinegar? As long as you give it really good rinse after it does a good job of dissolving the crud and limescale 👍🏻 Hello 👋🏻 by the way :hi:

This is a zebra pleco, and yes they are expensive....plus they hide a fair bit Do you want bottom dwelling fish? I know you didn't want the gravel messed up but just something to think about....a lot of detritus and poo is going to settle and decay on the substrate, which if not removed or...

The fish in the photos are both Apistogramma, the top is cacatuoides and the bottom is aggassizzi 👍🏻 if you wanted one of these, choose either a male on his own or a pair (husband and wife, so to speak). I wouldn't put more than 1 species in together because I don't think the tank is big enough...

Well done 👍🏻 so...guppys and mollys are hard water fish, so they're out. The sharks, although very nice grow to ridiculous sizes and a pet peeve of mine. They also need to be kept in groups, so unless you're planning a massive 400+litre aquarium in the future then they're out too. The Oscar...

    Two tanks - Filter Question

I wouldn't worry about a filter or heater if all you're putting in them are plants? Is it cold where you are at the moment? If not then the water will just stay at ambient temperature which is fine. You could pop an air stone in each just to circulate the water a little if you wanted to

    Tetra problem

My kribs swallow air when they eat at the surface, they've learnt to be more enthusiastic at feeding times otherwise they dont get a look in with the rainbows in hunt mode. They 'burp' after a while and start swimming normally again but it doesn't take over 30 mins 🤔 if it is air, try as Ichthys...

Just bear in mind that you can only have one type of dwarf cichlid...either a male on his own or a bonded pair if the shop has any. Barbs need to be in a group, you've got (or will have) 2 big groups of tetras...so you may not want barbs as well? Corys, again, big group...but they will occupy...
