Hi and welcome to the forum. :hi: You need to upgrade to at least a ten gallon tank pronto. The larger the better. Five gallons is suitable for only one fish like a betta, really. If you have breeding guppies you will need room for all the fry.

You can also buy decorative rocks online that are certified safe for the aquarium. I'm unsure if you want to pay real money for a rock, but its a safer alternative if you don't want to risk using muriatic acid to test rocks that you find. We had to be very careful handling that stuff at home...

I'd go with NickAu's snail trap idea since you have some nocturnal bottom feeders. Another method is refraining from feeding for a few days, place a large lettuce leaf (or two) at the bottom of the tank and remove it once the snails begin to gather. Your BN might try to munch on the lettuce leaf.

What is the size of your tank? It's not uncommon for fish to have stunted growth when they are in an unsuitably sized tank.

I've had this sword in my tank for almost a year now. It was originally in a tube and its leaves melted away as it adapted to being submerged. For a few weeks I was having a lot of new growth and the sword doubled in size, but then started melting again and all the new growth seems to melt away...

I bury the pellets and wafers for my corydora before lights off so they can "dig up" the pellets. Not too deep, just a gentle poke until its lightly under the sand. My angels have no clue. Never thought of grinding up the pellet food though, let us know how that works out.

Make sure you put some used filter media from your main tank into the new one before you move him! You don't want to stress the guy out by doing a fish-in cycle!
