    Dwarf shrimp with fish eggs?

I hope so for their sake.

    Cardina tanks

Cardina are very sensitive to changes in water. You can move them but you would probably be best to switch over your water and filter, then drip another 5 gals of as near the same parameters as you can once they are in .

    Green Neons Tetras hiding

Strangely enough one way to get them to hide less is to provide more places for them to hide.

    Cherry shrimp breeding?

If you just want to keep cherry shrimp, then a 10 gallon is more than adequate. If you want to breed good quality cherry shrimp you will need more than one tank. Good idea with the pebbles.

    SUPER long Anacharis!

I swapped a big clump of subwassertang for a load of anubias recently, I got two pots of anubias nana, and three of anubias (bonsai) nana. The regular ones are growing well but the bonsai version is slow. This is what i got from 2 of the bonsai pots. Something like this would look good on the...

Vote Now!...March 2020 Tank of the Month (Nano tanks only)

This is my glass jar (drinks dispenser) It's probably a bit less than a gallon and has sand and shrimp substrate on the bottom. It contains a a couple of small pieces of bogwood, a variety of plants from my other tanks, two male cherry shrimp, the usual seed shrimp, and a load of pond snails. It...

    Tropical plants

After looking closely I believe that it is crispa (which I believe is called Lagarosiphon major for the moment), that I have in my pond. Either way both are banned from being sold in the EU now.

    Tropical plants

Densa and crispa are probably the 2 commonest. Densa is what is in my pond.

    Tropical plants

My outdoor pond is full of elodea, I throw bunches of it away every summer. My pond freezes over in the winter so it is a pretty hardy plant and can easily survive and thrive without a heater. There are more than one species of elodea.

Want to Breed Platies? I have 3 methods for you!

I'd avoid saying "I know what is best". I'm not saying you don't know, but it will put people off. Maybe saying something like "In my opinion etc" would be better. Just trying to help. Keep up the good work.

I hope so, that's the nearest I've got to a nano aquarium.

    Asian fish

White clouds make a nice school although they don't "school" us such, they just do their own thing. I don't think Asia does tetras but there are lots of rasbora species.

My travels through the Tropical Fish Hobby

It's not too cold up here for Koi so I think you'd be fine as long as the pond was reasonably deep. I only keep goldfish in my pond. They stay out all year long and do fine in the winter, but I know a few folk who keep koi in this area.

You can make spawning mops from wool. This video shows you how. This is a poor picture of two of my white clouds. Female above

    White slime everywhere

I think you are right in saying your "green water" has died, and what you are seeing is dead micro-organisms that used to make up your green water.

    White clouds eggs

I'd say both are females too. They spawn in bunches of plants, I very much doubt if they would spawn in a box.

I'm assuming you didn't read the next post I made. Nevertheless, most of the plants commonly available fall into that category.

    Need help

60 gals sounds like a 4ft tank, so fairly big. Most plants will grow well in gravel. Stem plants only really need light to grow. Rooted plants take nutrients from the substrate mostly. I don't know what lighting you have but assuming its fairly moderate, any plants rated medium to low light...

    Need help

You don't need any great knowledge to grow real plants. Most of them you just stick in the gravel. Plants will help with your water parameters too as they use up nitrates.
  31. Munroco

    I have a dilemma.

OK, when people talk about dirt in a tank, they usually mean a nutrient rich layer like compost that goes under gravel or sand or suchlike. If its just for a filler I suppose lots of things would work. Sand, gravel etc. I think you want something inert though as with the eco complete allready...
  32. Munroco

    I have a dilemma.

Is there a point in using eco complete with dirt? Eco complete is advertised as "a complete aquatic substrate which delivers the nutrients straight to the plant roots." I think using dirt too would be overkill, unless you were thinking of the dirt as a cheaper alternative to a 2nd bag of eco...

Fish died within 24 hrs but not in a different tank??

I think the fish in the smaller tank died because with it's smaller water volume, condition deteriorated quicker. I'd guess the same will happen with your other tank unless you take steps to sort it out.

    Unsure of fish type

I liked his earlier videos, since he became a "star", in his own opinion at least, I've liked his videos less and less. His DIY stuff was interesting but he doesn't seem too great at keeping fish, despite the thousands of dollars worth of equipment.

Dwarf Shrimp Dying Daily - please help!

Neos are a lot more forgiving of water changes than cardinia but IMO you should still use the drip method if you must do a large change. Sudden alterations to water parameters can do more harm than good.
