    One month on!

4 days the embers have been in with the Betta and no problems so far. Both seem happy with the move. I think its good for him to have something to catch his interest.

    help to breed platys

Do you actually want to breed them? The situation we are in will make it difficult to sell on young fish and you could soon find yourself over run. I'm desperate for summer to come so I can get some of my fish outside to free up room. Other than that, I reckon Juicebox could be right about the...

Wood glue would be better if the surround is indeed wood. It might be plastic, it's hard to tell .

Curious as to what other hobbies you guys have ?

HMmm need to look pics out if I have any. I give most of the stuff away to my family, and I imagine they burn it after an appropriate time. .

I turn pallet wood into household junk, using a crazy amount of absolutely indispensible power tools.

    Cichlid help

Firemouths , like many South American cichlids are fairly peaceful (except when breeding) They can get to about 6" reputedly but I've never seen one that big. Most will grow to about 4+inches. Some others that are peaceful are severum, geophagus sp. Blue acaras. There are a lot to choose from...

    Hi - new to forum

I hope your tank remains peaceful. Texas cichlids are beautiful fish that seem to get more beautiful as they get bigger

    Pics of my Tanks

I would have thought that any effect on PH by plants would be minimal. I'll wait and see if Byron comments on this. He will know if anyone does.

Help! What’s wrong with my fish?

It does seem like a swim bladder condition. Unfortunately there isn't a lot you can do that is likely to help. There are medications you can get but I don't know how efficient they are. If its a swim bladder problem it won't affect your other fish.

    Pics of my Tanks

Some nice bits of wood there, you could do a lot with them. I'm think moss, anubias java fern etc. Not South American I know but would look good. Your sword look a little ragged. Maybe some fertiliser tabs would help them.

My mom is evil shes probably reading what I'm writing.

Fish with bent spines often have them due to inbreeding.

Mountain horned lizard kept with tropical fish?

No idea about lizards and fish but the apisto should get on fine with tetras. Sounds like an interesting project.

These are nice, all we get here is sticklebacks and minnows.

    Hello!

Hello, like you I'm not sure if the betta shrimp thing will work. Normally I'd advise against it but maybe amanos can survive. I have a lone betta atm in a 60 litre tank that I plan to add a load of ember tetras too. I've no experience with bettas so I don't know how it will work.

Hello. Did you purposely try to add only male fish?

I never realised I have been doing silent cycles all these years.

    Algae Removal in pond.

If you add floating plants and they take over then any other plants in the pond will suffer and very possibly die off from lack of light.

    Algae Removal in pond.

I would think twice about adding floating plants. You may end up changing the whole ecosystem.

    Which Corys Do You Have?

Really good pics. Wish mine came out like that
  30. Munroco

Green water than mass die off.

I think lghting is likely to be the problem. You don't mention if you have plants or not, but it seems you will have to find a balance that suits your tank. Try differing lengths of time the light is on (obviously you will need to wait a few days each time to see if it's making a difference).

It sounds like a swim bladder problem.

Why doesnt anyone use the stones to filter anymore?

Undergravel filters. Some people still use them but most people prefer the modern types of filter which are a bit more versatile.

Urgent Help Needed - One dead new fish see below image.

Pygmy chain loaches have always been a fish I'd like to keep but never had the proper space for them. Have a look at them on your google travels. I reckon they would fit in nicely with your tiger barbs.

The weird and stupid Youtube fish channels..sick of them.

Rachel O'Leary and Corvus Oscen are my favourites. Dustin is pretty knowledgable about plants but hes too "hip" for my tastes, and Joey thinks hes a superstar now. I don't watch him anymore.

Urgent Help Needed - One dead new fish see below image.

It looks very thin. You often get fish from shops like this unless you handpick them (not always possible with shoaling fish) I have a rosy tetra like this atm, doesn't matter what he eats he still looks scrawny. Had him about a month (he is one of twelve) and I have been expecting to lose him...

    Top 5 fish you've kept???

1 - All Corydoras but particularly Sterbai and Duplicareus 2 - Emperor Tetra 3 - Ember Tetras 4 - Cardinal Tetras 5 - Thomasi Cichlids That was hard choosing the last couple in particular.
