    New to this particular forum

I've had this theory since the beginning. This person has used one of dutch's "famous" quotes "I don't sugar coat things" and also somehow knew Dutch was banned even though it was never announced

    Female betta numbers

6 or 7, but you need to make sure they are peaceful with each other not all are, introduce them two at a time and remove the aggressive ones. Make sure you have lots of hiding places so they cant see each other 24/7

New male guppy with bitten tail

As for my advise, I recommend just trying to get your money back and not attempting to add more fish

New male guppy with bitten tail

Guppies are mostly non-aggressive fish. That's why they are called community fish. but every now and then you can get an aggressive one. And I have heard of cardinals being aggressive but very rarely. Most likely the reason your fish are fighting is because your tank is overstocked. 20 fish in a...

I don't want my fish to breed!

Actually it wasn't. The poster learned about fish and chose to not take our advice. Someone else might stumble upon this thread and be able to use it to benefit them. as I stated before and will state again, I did answer your question which you seem to ignore the fact of.

How long has the tank been running? The danios might be the culprit if your tank is too small for them

    My betta is sick...help!

le It takes at least 1 month for a tank to cycle one night will not do it. Your betta is most likely sick because of the high amounts of ammonia in your tank due to it not being cycled correctly.

    Endler Fry Journey

I made this update video today of my endler fry and thought "why not share it here?":p
  13. snork6

Yes, I'm new and can not disappoint grandson

You are a perfect example of the right why to start and learn about fish........ if only everyone could be like you before they start a tank :p

All my Tetra fish died overnight!

I usually like to introduce my new fish one at a time. The most I would put at one time is 3. Putting 12 fish in at once might have disrupted your tanks bio load resulting in bad water, or one of the fish was already sick and infected the others but I doubt that could happen that fast.

    Is my guppy pregnant?

Just out of curiosity does this man work at a chain pest store or a privately owned one?
  16. snork6

I had to hold back my inner fishkeeper..........

Today I went into town to my LFS. The store is a Pet Supplies Plus which is a chain but not as popular as petsmart petco etc. They mostly have tennagers working there, as usual........... The people there have no idea what so ever about fish keeping. (For example, I asked the guy bagging fish...

I don't want my fish to breed!

Okay so I get the vibe you think I'm being rude. I am not trying to be rude. There is just some problems with your tank and I would hate for all your fish to die. Back to your original question, Yes having an all male tank of mollies is perfectly fine, that is if you have the right set up. 5...

Yes, I'm new and can not disappoint grandson

your tank needs to be cycled use this page to help get you started, this is necessary before adding fish or they will most likely die http://www.fishforums.net/threads/cycling-your-new-fresh-water-tank-read-this-first.421488/ as of fish recommendation, I love guppies and basically any...

    Is my guppy pregnant?

Okay hopefully your tank is cycled so that is good, but if you could give us your parameters we could just be 100% positive that your water is safe. next, your tank is overstocked. The major thing I see wrong is the 4 zebra danios. Danios need large and long tanks to be able to swim freely. If...

I don't want my fish to breed!

Okay let's work this out. Before we can fix your problem, we need to fix some other potential problems you may have and learn some info about you setup. How long has the tank been running? Did you cycle it properly? What is the size of the tank? what are the parameters of your water? Once...

    Is my guppy pregnant?

With livebearers, you can generally assume the fish is pregnant all the time. So I would say yes, but she doesn't seem to be close to birth yet. You mention you set up your tank about a month ago, did you cycle it properly? Also what fish do you have in the tank and what size is the tank?

    Stock Ideas

Hello! It's been awhile since I have posted a topic and been on the forum. I hope to get back into helping people on here:p Anyways let me get back to the question at hand. I have an old 10 gallon tank that's been running for about 8+ years (It is my original tank) it has a amazon sword in it...

    Cull or not?

It's honestly up to you. I would cull it because I only like having the best and strongest fry in my tank. If it doesn't seem to be hurting the fry itself, I say keep it.

    Dark cloudy waterwater

It could be just stirred up waste but if it had all night to settle I doubt that would be it, but I could be wrong. It might also be an algae bloom. What is your tank setup like?

    Shaking pregnant molly

Shaking and resting on the bottom of the tank are a few of the symptoms Molly's have during labor, but it could also be because of your tank set up. Parameters would be helpful

Mostly Likely. The guy looked like he had no idea what he was doing. They pulled him from some random section of the store, he wasn't even working in the fish department.

    Age limit

I've never had that kind of experience at my petsmart. Except for one time they tried to tell me that guppies would die in a freshwater tank and needed saltwater.

water changes in a tank with fry in it

My recommendation is that you remove the fry and put them in a floating container in the tank. (You can find one at your LFS) Benefits of this is 1. It protects the fry from hungry parents 2. Keeps you from worrying about sucking them up 3. Let's you keep an eye on them to see when they are...
  33. snork6

    10 gallon tank

One more thing I think should be added to this is that if you get male and female guppies/endlers, you will have a population outburst. So unless you are planning to expand for more fish I would highly recommend only purchasing males. (The parents will most likely eat the fry but one or two...

    Is My Swordtail Pregnant?

Breeding can be hard if you don't have a good setup you will need at least 4 tanks for your fish as they reproduce. The way I have my tanks set up is    1. Breeding tank with mature males/females - I recommend 20 gallons or more 2. Fry tank with sponge filter - 5 to 10 Gallons 3. Male tank - I...

    Is My Swordtail Pregnant?

From the picture those look like platies but I could be wrong due to the fact female sowards look like platies. Not really sure what your question is though? Do you want to know if their pregnant or just want tips on breeding?   edit - Is your question why are they getting big?

Where To Find Dwarf Mosquito Fish

I have to decided to give rare livebearers a try. I've done some research and found that the Eastern Mosquitofish is my best bet (aka Dwarf Mosquito Fish Heterandria formosa ) I've done my research on it and found it is native to where I live. So I thought I would just go catch some wild...
