It is definitely possible (and sometimes even advised) to treat the entire tank when a fish is sick. Many illnesses can be contagious and some parasites like ich live in the water column or substrate for many weeks so treating one fish separately may not prevent other fish from getting the same...

instead of a towel or chucks, drape a large but thin blanket on the stand/floor surrounding the tank like a dropcloth. This will prevent you from having to worry about multiple towels, and has the benefit of being one piece of fabric so you won't have "gaps" that water droplets invariably fall...

I think that's a good move! At the end of the day, if you always keep adding more fish you will eventually run out of room :D better save that room for when you have something you reeeeally want on your mind, instead of just "meh adding some more fish" :)

There is no one right answer to fishkeeping. You have to work within the constraints that you have, but you have pretty wide constraints at the moment so not bad!! You can also try posting on FB marketplace or r/aquaswap to get rid of the current fish. It's interesting that the smaller LFS's...
