The tank came with a ruby shark 2 danios and 2 scissortail rasboras. At that time, one danio was viciously attacking the other so I moved him. Soon all of the other fish will be rehomed or moved to bigger tanks. Right now though, all of the fish are still in the tank.

Don't worry there are other things they will be able to eat.

I think the front on is a male because it has a more pointed front fin. Usually females have round front fins if I recall. I can't see the back one's front fins so I'm not too sure.

I think you should be ok to add some shrimp. Double check the parameters to make sure they are fine before adding them. They should be fine with the algae to eat.

You need a bigger tank before you add more. As I mentioned in a post just above. If you add more fish, they will just be like the ones in there already (hiding in the corner and not showing very bright colouration).

Rummynose tetras, are one of the best tetra species imo. With the tank you have right now, it is sadly a bit too small for them. They require a tank length of at least 3ft which @Naughts has said above. If you can get a 20 gallon long (if you can find one that is at least 3ft) you should be ok...
