If you are to go with neons go with 8. That’s a good general number even though they do better in groups of 15+. If you are to go with shrimp, red cherry shrimp or Amano shrimp would be a good idea. They stay relatively small RCS get to 2.5cm and amano shrimp get to 4cm

What is your GH again and pH? If you have hard water, congo tetras are a good choice, for soft water probably buenos aires tetras, they can be a bit nippy though so be wary of them.

Do you have the tank already? I'd start out with a 10 or 20 gallon tank (40litre-70litres). Do you know you GH and pH? Your GH is your general hardness and can be found by looking up your address in your water companys website.

I don't have experience with this tank set up but you would need a filter regardless as it will help clear up your tank. When I was 6 or 7 we got a 5 gallon tank. We knew how to cycle the tank but never looked into what we could put in the tank. I remember putting in a ruby shark/rainbow shark and a bosemani rainbow along with some rummynose tetras. Definitely not my smartest choice when I was young.

Ok so judging by your dimensions and water parameters we can suggest you a lot of ideas! I think you should up your cory count to 7-8 and leave it at that. Everything else should be fine. Other people can suggest ideas too.

Can you tell us the dimensions of your tank and your pH and GH. That way we can suggest ideas for your tank :)

Ok I’m not sure what has happened. I’ve heard somewhere that some sort of algae eater latched onto a fish and sucked the slime off it. I doubt it’s that though. As I said above it could be markings. Other more experienced people will be able to help
