I don't agree on sorority tanks. It always goes south eventually. @Deanasue had one. The only way I see it going well is in a 55 super densely planted. They aren't a friendly fish, end of the line imo.

Idk what to tell ya then. Just saying, betta fish can be kept in 5 gals easily. Depends more on the owners choices than the size of the tank at that point. I don't have a betta so I can only tell you about what I've researched.

That'd be cool! Only problem would be getting your hands on a pair. You could ask the fish store if you could get 6 babys, post a video after a week or so, and then we could tell you which are bonded and you could take back the rest. You could get neons for tank mates :).

Parrots stick to the bottom half of the tank. So I'd skip any bottom dwellers but from there on out most fish are relatively fair game.

Oh wow. That's really soft water! Too soft for guppies I'm afraid, but fine for the pleco. I would recommend some harlequin rasboras for a nice shoal of red through the tank.

I can't recommend fish without knowing your water hardness. Fish that are in too hard or to soft water will develop have health issues.

Unfortunately you don't have space for this fish, they need 30 or more gallons. You can find your water hardness by looking up "City Name general hardness".

If the water is too soft it causes a ton of complicated issues, but the most common one is skin, gill and eye damage. It can also cause shimmies.

Crossbars are supports to keep the tank from bowing under the weight of the water. If the tank does not have these do not buy it, it'll literally pop. They run across the top and bottom of the tank. Also 250? I'd totally get it, what a steal!
