    I Got Another One.

Yeah I got the betta bug again. I can't go more then a few years with out a betta fish.  I have 5 tanks with many different kinds of fish discus, large cichlids, delhezi bichir, and shrimp to name a few. But I always come back to betta fish.    It all started AGAIN when I saw the Big ear betta...

    Breeding Diary

You might not get 100 fry with your first spawn. And there is nothing wrong with culling off the weak or defected fry. I think 70 fish makes more sence. Still a lot of betta fish to find homes for. You could sell them online for cheap just have people pay for shipping. Bettas are so easy to...

    Setting Up A Sorrority Tank

15 gal is not enough room for 7 females. I had 7 females in a 36 gal tank and I still had problem. They set up a pecking order and the lowest gets pick on a lot and will hide all the time. Mine even in the big tank stressed each other out and in the end all died. I had the tank set up for a...

    Returning Fish.

If one pet store will not take the fish another one will.  PetCo does a fish adoption thing.  They don't promote it much. But if you have a fish you can't keep for whatever reason they will take it for you but don't expect any money for it.     More petstores will take back a healthy fish you...

    Bacterial Bloom ?

I have had bacterial blooms. I happen to me in very established tanks After I do an extrem clean.  If I let my 100 Gal tank too a little too long for a water change then go and clean the filters and do a 90% WC I got a bloom.  One was so bad that it depleted my tank of O2 and the fish was...

15 Years Of Fish Keeping I Learned....

I use to do water changes like crazy some times ever 3 days never let it go longer then a week. Now my tanks might go 2 weeks with out a WC. It all depends on the tank how it is stocked and your filtration. No tank is the same. Doing less WC might not work for you. Constancy helps keep the...

The Ups And Downs Of Fishkeeping

Breeding is hard you need lots of time and space. Not worth it for me. But plants are easy once you find the right kinds for you. I have been growing and different kinds of moss and I have made some money on them. Work on your plant keeping skills and you can being growing and selling in not...

    My First Baby Shrimp............... But!

Yup could be that. Could be another type of worm. Most of these tiny bug things found in the shrimp tanks are harmless and some help keep the tank clean and are just part of the eco system.    I have had a few shrimp only tanks and one of them I think I over fed it and my filtration was not...

What Do I Do With Live Bloodworms?

Keep them in the refrigerator. You don't need to feed them much. I put a little big of moss in with mine. You can feed them veggies or the yucky stuff some the filter. Just a little bit. They last a long time in the fridge. Clean them with treated tap water. Every few days or so to keep...

    Worms And Fish Keeping?

I sold someone a lot of moss. There were some blackworms that I kept with a little bit of moss. I tried to wash them all out. Turns out the person I sold to is a wimpy girl. I never thought I would need to warn the person they might see a harmless worm. To me worms and yucky stuff is just a...

I have been keeping discus for 2 years now. I still have my first he is my fav. And my largest because I took the best care of him. IME they are very easy to keep and very hard to grow out. They stunt very easy. So to grow out young discus to there full size it's going to take work. To just...

    Skunk Cory Color Change?

I have 4 skunk coyr cats. The 2 I got months ago have gotten dark. The new ones are still a nice white. The substrate in the tank is black and I think that have caused them to take on a darker over all color. Anyone have this happen to them? I will get some photo soon.

    Cory Hybrids

I have never seen or heard of People having hybrids pop up. I am sure it can happen with very closely related Cory cats. But I don't think a bronze Cory will cross with a panda. You know what I mean. I would not worry about it too much personally.

All Cory's Have To Be The Same Species?

I like to keep 4 of a kind. As long as they are around other Cory cats they are happy. They do like their own kind but will and do enjoy swimming with other kinds. Mixing 4 of one kind with 4 of another kind works well for me.
