They will spawn in a community tank but the fry will not live. The other fish will slowly pick the fry off one by one as soon as they start swimming. If you really want to raise the fry you will need a breeding tank to raise the fry in.

I think ammonia is the problem Angels are hardy and not picky the ph is not a big deal. You need a Cycled sponge filter ready to go when you have fry on the way.    You could mix RO water with your tap water to lower the ph but that is a pain and I don't think angles need it. Peat moss pellets...
