Prolapses often do go back in but also often lead to infections...plus there is a high chance that the next time a fish has babies/lays eggs that it will prolapse again as there seems to not be the proper connection to hold the womb inside their body.

He  really flares at nothing so far.  I've tried the mirror, even put on the digital picture frame filled with fish and betta pictures and he is intensely interested but no flaring.  Firefly is just too darn happy.

I used to keep guppies (gave them up as they seemed so fragile and prone to more diseases)... I had one batch of 4, one of 10, then the rest were usually 20-30, and a few had 90+ in one batch.

You'd need a minimum of 3 tanks, however, to make that work properly... guppies mate once and have babies around 6 times and batches are anywhere from a few to about 50 (on average, I've had guppies have more than that at once)... that would instantly over populate the tank when those females...

The father protects and maintains the bubble nest so don't remove him.   I never get any babies from mine either, but in my case my snails eat the eggs.  I have a mesh divider I pop in from time to time but only if my male gets aggressive about the eggs, most of the time he is fine and the other...

I'd go with less than the maximum you can have and maybe 5-7 male guppies.  And make sure the tank is cycled before getting the fish.

I'm  not sure about the mouth but I wanted to post a link about cycling your fish tank which will become important information to you especially if you are new to fish keeping.   Putting fish in an uncycled tank (explanations in the link) means that ammonia builds to a toxic level very quickly...

I've had no problems and there are definitely no claws.  I rarely ever see this one except for when they get excited during a water change.  I managed a picture but from the wrong angle so it doesn't show the color that looks different from the others... I think my flash also made the color...

By replacing the media every 4 weeks you are throwing away the bacteria you are cultivating and starting a new cycle every time.  You need to keep the media until it is literally falling apart before replacing it.  You can clean it ever so often by gently squeezing the debris out in a container...

Or making a big effort to secure mature media for your filter so you can have proper bacteria right away and hopefully enough to support your fish... which of course still requires water testing to make sure it worked.

What size is your bowl?  For a temporary measure, a bigger container is better as more water means it takes longer for ammonia to build up... if you currently have him in a small bowl this could help make maintenance easier.   Ultimately, what he needs a tank of at least 5 gallons (10 is better)...

I am assuming this is a new tank and therefore a bacteria bloom as described.   On a separate note.  I did once use Interpet Filter Aid and it did that to my tank water... took about 3 days to get rid of the cloudiness... BUT, this was a mature tank with normal water stats.  Yours is sounding...

Oh man, I don't even have to watch that video, I know exactly who that is and what he does!  He scares me!  I've seen him swallow and regurgitate pool balls!  I have seen the fish act before.   By the way... NOT a fake trick at all... he is some sort of freak of nature.

Little update, only a teensy tiny bit of sticky fin left, you can't even make it out in the photo.  To the naked eye it just looks less flexible and more opaque... I wouldn't be surprised if it is gone by tomorrow.     Here is Firefly looking better again and continuing to grow.

He is improving nicely, I expect his tail to be back to normal by the end of treatment (another 4 days).  The top stuck bit has mostly come undone again as has the bottom one, the middle one is still a bit more stuck together but is coming apart slowly.  The rest of his fin growth has continued...

Ah!  That makes me feel better, amanos would be my preferred thing to add.

Maybe I will do that then... buy some more shrimp and try them out in there... if it goes badly I can attempt to rescue them and move survivors to my other tank.

It is algae, it is not harmful.  Depending how many plants you have, I tend to find the easiest way to get rid of it is to pull up the plants and scrub them under tap water... then the bit that is left is easily eaten by your shrimp... they don't seem to eat it when it gets stringy like that.

At one time I had a desk lamp for one of my tanks... the sort with the long bendable arm... not as nice as a tank light but it did the job until proper lighting was setup.

I'll try and blame the blue light bulb for my craziness.  LOL   He is extremely active and happy with life.  Since I got him, I've only caught him sleeping one time... I wish I had all the energy he does!

The transparent bits are coloring as they grow, they are sort of transparent red that doesn't always show in the pictures.   I can't figure out if it is because those two bits are longer that they make his tail "ruffle" a bit differently as a result... and maybe the blue light shadows it more...

Yep!  I love anubias nanas and moss balls for my 10 gallon... I have found that since I made it a betta only tank, though, that I do need to add a weekly fertilizer to keep them looking their best.

Excuse the dirty glass... and I'm surprised the photo came out as well as it did as Firefly was so excited waiting for breakfast and also my light bulb burnt out and I only have the blue one at the moment.   ANYHOW... I'm not sure if it is having the blue light or my imagination... or real...

It shouldn't just make sure you have thoroughly rinsed the tank before setting it up.
