Just removed the offending article out of my tank. 2 of the neons (that I could see) where floating at a 45 degree angle? I promptly did a 50% water change. The smell was even making me feel dizzy!!!

It is defiantly the ornament. I noticed the smell when i was washing it however I thought nothing of it. I recently changed the filter media I.e carbon and rinsed the sponge. The top of the tank was wiped clean on the last water change. I appreciate the help you are giving me! :)

I have just realised that the ammonia reading is coming from the tap water ;) Does this mean I am fully cycled? Ammonia 0.25(tap water) nitrites 0 nitrates 40-80ppm (I shook the bottle ;) )

I'm only doing the nitrate so I can see if there's any change :D and I have got a fair amount of live plants that regularly break off little bits which end up rotting in the filter ;) Going away Friday for 4 days so Im hoping it'll be done by then or I might not have any fish when I get back :(

I have the api master kit. I did both a high and low range ph test both came back similar between 7.6 on the low and 7.4 on the high. As for the nitra zorb it's been removed Since lunch time now and ammonia has remained at 0 and nitrite is just a fraction off the 0.

The ph in the bottle water is 6.2 Tap water is 7.6 although before I got my kit pets at home tested it and it came back 8.8. How strange. Anyway here are the parameters for my tap water after treatment. Ph 7.6 Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 20-40ppm Is this habitable for neons??

This was before the water change. The ammonia was 0. And the nitrite is the 0.25 An the nitrates where between 5.0-10 I'm confused am I cycling or not?:) I have got an aqua-detox in the filter (nitra zorb) which is supposed to absorb all the bad bits

I've been keeping them at around 24.4 which apparently is best for bacteria. Will the aqua detox ruin or slow down the process? So far it's been a life saver and i feed them once a day only a tiny amount let them eat it all and watch to see if there is any uneaten food. Any tips to speed it...
