You would be pushing it with a 20G i think. Would there be any chance of you upgrading to a larger tank in the future? If so then 3 saulosi would be ok in a 20G for a short period of time.

Good :). Females look very very similar, can lead to a lot of crossbreeding. Plus the males do tend to harass eachother more than usual.

The Pseudotropheus Demasoni id leave out for now as they can be a total nightmare and wouldn't recommend them for someone starting out with malawi's, They usually do best in a species only tank but even then they can still go on a killing spree and cause mayhem( Doesn't mean this is always going...

No worries, got yourself a nice size tank. You could go with all the species mentioned above if you really wanted to but its quite a mix/match of fish. Id recommend choosing 3 to 5 species either from the above list or other species you like the look off and have larger numbers of each species...

I use purigen too, brilliant stuff can be recharged with a mild bleach but I prefer to buy a new bag every3 to 4 months. Btw, nice tank. Look forward to seeing it finished. Did you go with a Malawi tank in the end minnnt?

Well the fish have settled really well as well as the tank so here's a few pics.
