Currently in the process of pulling this down....i am going to move the rainbows and plants to an indoor tank. Once this is all clean and rescaped, it will end up home to some goldfish (something a bit bigger and can be easily seen by guests)

I love shrimp also, this is why they have fish free tanks lol (well all except the current red cherries who share with the pep bn)     The light runs 24/7 on this tank

Still not finished...........planting the HM takes time, but eventually the entire sand area will be filled in. I think i have a dead heater also......grrrrrrr....so will need to buy a new one before anything can move in.   A progress shot anyway

I am going to be setting up 2 1ft cubes as shrimp tanks. 1 will be home to Crystal Reds Shrimp, as they really do need to be in different water stats than they are currently in. The 2nd tank will be home to some Red cherries, which will be part of a breeding colony to specifically get some high...

Update: Most of the rocks have been removed to make more room for some more shells, the colony is growing (yay yay)

I have had a yellow explosion in this tank, they are literally everywhere lol The moss also has gone beserk. I tried to get a new pic, but just too bright in the tank room, so will try again tonight

I have removed most of the common and albino fry to the 4ft, so now there is more room for the peps and shrimp (there is the odd common bn i missed lol), as the tank was VERY overcrowded

I just emptied and rescaped the tank, i wanted to change the substrate to a brown sand, all the fake plants are also gone, for now at least. I have added some wood with anubias in there. Currently Jack and Demi are not happy with me lol

Yeah it is, i really like it, so different to my normal tank type.   The angel has been living with the gouramis in the 5ft and 4ft for ages.   There is only the platinum male angel, the platinum gourami pair & albino cories in here

Finished the background, tank is now up and running. I will eventually epoxy the BG, but for now the sealer that is on it will do   The tank under standard T8   The tank under marine LEDs

Tank has been filled and is running, once i am happy with the test results, stock will go in and i'll update with some pics

There are Crystal Reds in there as well, but they will be moving to a different tank soon

Yeah she is pretty, and carrying lots of eggs i see.....   The tank is nice and 'lived' in now (say dirty lol) I have not touched the tank other than to do top ups, they seem to appreciate that more than me fussing with it all the time.   The CRS will be moving out of here soon, i want to move...

Yes there is natural black sand. TM isnt too coarse, i know of someone who has cories on it and their barbels are lovely and long. But TM is expensive. I ended up getting a lead to some, i will be giving them a ring next week to see if i can get some

It is currently being sealed and all i will say is it is gonna be different lol Certainly NOT along my normal tank look

i have manzanita, each piece took very little time to sink and didnt leach any tannins nor bits of crud....Love the stuff, but very expensive to buy here

The test with the rock and the new sealer - resulted in only a slight white haze, but i do not want the black in anyway lightened, so i picked up a different one today that will not haze at all, it is expensive, but it looks like it is what i will need to stick with other than going the epoxy...

Thank you   The tank is going through its ugly stage.........normal part of a DIY substrate tank. Added to that is the tank still has no lights on it....something i really need to try and fix at some stage soon.

I use vinegar to clean and sterilize.   Its good for soaking snail infested gravel in, kills the snails. It will also kill planaria

Update - Due for another foreground trim and stem replant

I will be picking up some airline tomorrow, i want to run some before the render goes on so the airlines are all hidden, that way if i decide sometime down the track i want to add air the lines will be in place. Learnt that from the 5ft, very annoying being able to see airlines when everything...

Foam work pretty much now done  

So this background is now gone     I have just started doing a new one for it.   Have the corner pieces cut to size and intakes in. Have to wait for the silicone to dry on the intake mesh then can get to silicone the foam in place and start building around it

The salt can be washed from beach sand no probs there. Beach sand does however have crushed shells etc in it and generally will raise the water hardness in your tank, this makes it unsuitable for people who require softer water.   It is also illegal to take in many places
