Easy to hide in this tank, once those plants grow in you wont see anything at the back but a plant wall lol

 Yep we have external heaters, too expensive. I dont mine the internal heaters, they can be hidden in many cases, certainly will be in this tank

All the background plants are planted, just need to grow in. Will be trimming the HM in the 2.6ft tomorrow, so will start planting the foreground (fully planting it will take many weeks)   Moved the Crimson spotted rainbows into the tank as currently this is unheated (need to buy a new 300W heater)

Through the day you see them no probs, at night not so much

Its hard to see, i really need to get lights over this tank. I'm waiting for my Dad to come visit, he's gonna help me make some DIY LED lights for it

Yeah i am happy with it....still got more planting to do. Eventually the entire foreground will be planted also   I am hoping to stock with rainbows

My outdoor tank, home to 10 goldies.  

So hardscape is basically in (some may change yet). I have planted only the val as i knew exactly where i wanted it to go. Also planted a few swords who were very unhappy at being stored in a container for a week or so. I have just turned the canister on and once the tank clears a bit i'll take...

Soooo i am about to do the final clean up of this tank ready for its new look. Once its clean i'll try to take some pics of the setting up progress. Stay tuned :)

4 shubunkins joined the comets today........now they all just need to grow

No water in it now, will pull quite a bit of the substrate tomorrow, i will add in some of the other substrate i took from the 6ft, then i will need to go and buy some coarse river sand to cap it with. And finally i can get on with the decor design & planting. I only have a few wood choices open...

Yeah me too!   Aquamantra and its 10months old, it is a known fault and the company has now changed the way the heads are manufactured :)

OK, the canister has a cracked head, didnt think the water was coming out where it would if it was a seal. A replacement head has been ordered under warrenty

 I use a liquid CO2 daily, definitely not a waste of money. It helps keep a nice steady CO2 level in the tanks, this in turn keeps the plants happy and the algae at bay. Stop using it and i end up with algae from fluctuating CO2 levels, and less plant growth

Pretty sure the OP is putting the pot into the water not the plant that was in the pot

Marine light is generally not suitable to a planted tank.

Pretty much self explanatory. Internals are not as efficient in keeping the tank clean

No the fish have no room to swim lol /i'm sure they dont appreciate that much. The tank is here to please my eye, so trimmed it will be, but it will also be fish friendly.   You can have too many plants, and this tank is very much at this stage

They are just not as efficient on larger tanks

Its current feral state......its purposely been let go as i want to harvest some plants for the 4ft. Please excuse the algae growth on the glass, not been dosing the tank either. Will all get cleaned up this weekend     *the net is temp holding some BN that are for sale

The trays are all in properly.....it is either the seal between the motor head and the body or something has let go inside the head somewhere. It definitely isn't sealing somewhere as it is constantly sucking air and leaking worse than a barb wire canoe!   I'm taking it back to the shop i bought...

I added two more young adult females and a male to the colony today (not quite big enough to breed yet) The breeders have released a HEAP of new fry, and have a heap coming onto selling size   All in all the colony seems pretty happy, and that makes me happy!

Well this tank is mostly empty with just a bit of water and substrate left. All will be removed tomorrow, substrate redone (not quite so deep), then planted.   The angels are in a temporary tank, along with the heaps of BN and some tiger barbs and tetras

Tis leaking from the main head seal. Definitely no sand got into it, the intake is up too far. I havent got to it yet, will hopefully get a chance to look at it tomorrow, but i think a new seal will be needed

The JD's have moved to a different tank, and this tank has some beautiful new residents.   The stupid canister though is being a pain, it has decided to leak like a sod and it is doing my head in! I will have another look at it today and see if i can get it to behave!

I'll be hopefully redoing this tank today. I've decided to plant it again after all, as i have a tonne of plants that need somewhere to go lol   First i need to change the light tubes. The angels will be moving to a temp home, i need to decide if they are going or staying lol But a new planted...

I have used wood in with my shellies, they didnt move it, they move sand. Just put the hardscape in so it is resting on the tank base and then put sand in

Wood is fine in the tank, just dont really want tannin is all.   Awwww fry are fun, bigger colony, more movement in the tank. Mine are fairly active as the colony is fairly large and i have multiple males, making for territory defence lol. You can put dithers in, but no guarantee they will be...

I  have 10 or so multis in my colony....their tank is 2.5' x 15" x 12"   They do no like other fish in their territory, so personally i wouldnt add any dithers (also other fish could clean up and fry they may have)   Also the staining of the water with tannin i would not do either, tannin lowers PH
