    20 gallon update! With pics!

I have some slate caves for mine. You can find a bunch of stuff on eBay and Amazon. Nick, what size do you think a bristlenose finds the most comfortable? Mine goes in them all but they are a bit bigger. Lol. I wanna say 2 inches wide and 1 1/2 inch tall. I could be wrong....the length seems 4-6...

Melanistic? Can't remember the gene name thingy....lol. Regular super reds don't have red eyes. But albino (and whatever gene it is) can create red eyes. Yours is older than Butch probably. He will get bristles like that one day!

Not bad! You gotta love the bristlenose. Lol. Question though, in the picture, the eye looks red to me. Is yours an albino then or was that a trick of the camera? Mine is a super red and has regular eyes. Lol.

    20 gallon update! With pics!

No, I haven't ever tried. I can't even go up to the tank most of the time without him hiding from me. Oh well. Maybe he will be braver in the 55 whenever I get it up and going.....not a clue when on that yet. My money seems to be going everywhere else first!

    20 gallon update! With pics!

No!! Butch is mine! All mine! Lol. I want to say I've had him for about 2 years now. I had always thought he was a she until recently. Lol. Called him Baby. I got him when he was around 1/2 inch at the time! So tiny. Lol. He's now turning into the boy in the pics and not quite 3 inches yet!

    20 gallon update! With pics!

No!!! Butch is my skittish little baby! Lol! But he is gonna be gorgeous when all his bristles come in. I can't wait! Lol.

    20 gallon update! With pics!

So...tomorrow will he the first water change. So far, other than the white fungus stuff on the wood (that is attaching itself to some plants), everything seems to be going well! And...I got some new friends! I ordered 25+ Malaysian trumpet snails and 2 mystery snails(one gold and one chestnut...

Thanks Byron! I may wait a bit and add the Nerite snails in a few days just to see. Maybe after the next water change!

    New plants! Questions!

One more question...is there an easier way to dose the flourish feritliser? I put in a dose when I got it set up, but may have gotten too much. It's hard to see the threads on the cap. I do have some syringes though, would that work?

    New plants! Questions!

This is my 20 gallon high I finally got set back up! Got everything planted Thursday. Now...all the wood is mopani. I did NOT presoak it at all. So, now I have a bunch of tannins. I'm perfectly fine with tannins. Lol. No fish yet. Stocking will be one blue 3spot gourami. Say hi to Outlaw...

    Is it worth it?

I actually had to do it twice. Lol. The first time I took it completely apart. My dad was helping me. I had the silicone and the gun thingy already. Had everything nice and taped. Well...the gun malfunctioned and the silicone started to dry as he went to get another gun to use. Tried to finish...

    Is it worth it?

I've rebuilt and resealed a 55....not so much fun at all! Being as how it's only a 20....I think I would buy a new one. But, I would probably go bigger! Like a 40 breeder....more fish!! Lol. Though the bettas would probably love the long divided better than the high. But, I guess you have to ask...

New idea for stocking 55 gallon

I was mostly thinking that I've never seen a huge shoal of just the glowlights. I think it might be neat to do mostly just them plus some top and bottom dwelling fish. I'm not even sure on the hatchets to be honest but thought I might get bored only seeing glowlights. Lol. So I thought of the...

New idea for stocking 55 gallon

So..my future tank will be planted. Probably a lot of crypts, swords and some sort if fast growing floating plant(water lettuce or amazon frogbit). All of this will be set up way before fish. Anyway...I had been thinking of doing glow light tetras and harlequin rasboras. However, I'm almost...

    New lfs parasite advice

Thanks for the link Nick. Long read. Lol. Interesting though. It actually said it does not work flatworms so I'm wondering if maybe something else is also in this product. However, I've looked at reviews on amazon, and now it's saltwater people, but over half say it does kill flatworms. Most...

    New lfs parasite advice

Ok, got a reply back from the vet. He thinks it is a non parasitic flatworm and that maybe something else killed the fish. Who knows...maybe it was something small enough I couldn't see. Anyway, he said to get Salifert Flatworm Exit which is levamisole. This product says it's for reef tanks but...

I actually managed to get a couple of pictures. Sorry about the dust and water spots on the glass. I also emailed a vet and sent him these two pics as requested as well.

    New lfs parasite advice

I was just meaning like maybe a week without it. I know permenantly they need it. But Im guessing if I did switch her that these things will follow first. So I didn't want anything in that couldn't be absolutely cleaned for just a bit in the tote she would temporarily go in. Thanks again Nick...

    New lfs parasite advice

I'm not even sure I could get a sample of them with how small they are. I think I emailed someone once at a college around here but they weren't even sure they could help even if I got a sample. Anyway, the pleco is isolated already. She's my only fish currently. The nerites are in a different...

    New lfs parasite advice

I don't have a problem with breaking it down at all. I can scrounge up some plastic totes for temporary housing. My problem is...how do I get her out as easy as possible as well as not touching things much? I want to stress her out as little as possible of course. I am up to doing like I did...
