    Stand advice needed.

In any case, I'd be happy with a stand I can just assemble if anyone knows of one.

Not the Home Depot here. They must be lazy. They make everyone cut their own wood. And with a hand saw too. Don't even let people use power tools in the store.

It might come to that. Carpentry isn't really my thing. But it might be fun to try.

    Stand advice needed.

I'm thinking of a set up where I can have two tanks on a stand. A 20 long on the top shelf and a ten gallon on a shelf underneath. Can anyone recommend a stand for this?

    Fish food nutrition

I use a mortal and pestle to grind up pellet food for my fish. I have pygmy corys and they have very small mouths. My neon tetras seem to appreciate it as well.

    Fish food nutrition

Totally agree. Variety is key. Not just with live or frozen foods. I alternate between high quality flakes and pellets too. Some are fish/shrimp based and some are insect based.

    Fish food nutrition

I might be weird but I think live foods add another layer of interest and fun to the hobby. Fish go crazy for mosquito larvae. The only drawback is that you can only cultivate them during the warmer parts of the year. I had frozen some but I lost those in a refrigerator mishap. Right now, I...

What do you think of this channel?

I have an issue with the idea that we can perfectly replicate nature and create a self sustaining ecosystem in our glass boxes of water. Because nature is not an enclosed system. People who follow this method don't do water changes. That's not how nature works. Bodies of water in nature are...

    Opinions on neon tetras

In answer to the third question in the OP, I would not recommend them to others. Irresponsible breeding and shipping and caused these fish a lot of health problems. It's a crap shoot whether or not you get healthy ones. I like to think I know what I'm doing. I quarantine before adding to the...

    Best YouTube channels

That's the thing. There are a lot of videos that are well produced and presented with confidence, but they give out bad info. I try to find good info. It's hard and I have to filter through other sources and what I know for myself.

Try meditation. A lot of people really like it. I find it boring as hell and often fall asleep or get close to that when I do it.

Is this stocking ok for 200l?

AQAdvisor is a guide and a pretty helpful one. But with that in mind, you don't want to stock up to 100%. You're giving yourself no room for error. Shoot for 75%. 85% at the most. Especially with all those livebearers. And also, you have a mix of hard water and soft water fish. What is...

    Opinions on neon tetras

That's the interesting thing about their coloring. It has a couple of purposes. One is it allows them to see each other for schooling purposes. The other is believe it or not sort of a camouflage. Only they aren't trying to blend in with their surroundings. They're blending in with each...

    Opinions on neon tetras

They are a beautiful fish. I actually prefer their silver stripe to cardinals. When the light is just right, a large group of them schooling is spectacular. But, I have constantly been struggling with health issues with mine. I had a dozen that are now down to seven. All my other fish are...

I'm so sorry to hear this. You'll be in my prayers. I'd urge your to reconsider talking to someone. I think your friends would want to be there for you. If not one of them, there are crisis lines to help people in times like these. You'd be surprised how much a good talk can help. It won't...

    Feeding brine shrimp eggs???

I use this hatchery. @Ellie Potts told me about it here. The design is ingenious. There's a hole in the top that lets in light that attracts the BBS right to the collecting cup. Baffling separates them from the cysts. The only drawback is that they are pretty small yields. But for what I...

Don't trust fish store employees too much...

My personal rule is that I always know what I'm buying before I even walk into the store. I do the research and makes my decision before I go. And I call ahead to see if they have what I want in stock. I never buy an animal on impulse. I want to know if it's compatible with my water parameters...

Good fish tank for a studio apartment

I order a lot of plants online from Etsy. Generally they arrive in good condition. Now there is one big caveat. This time of year when temperatures go down is the trickiest to ship live plants. Most retailers on Etsy will offer heat packs and insulated packaging. It's still rolling the...

    Fairy Shrimp

I'm thinking of setting up a tank to grow out some brine shrimp. But then I thought that since fairy shrimp are fresh water, maybe I could have daphnia or something else going in there too.
