    Inbreeding?

I've had a species tank of scarlet badis for about 4 years. I started with 3 males and 2 females. They reproduced and reproduced and reproduced. I've lost count, but it's been well over 5 generations of fish reproducing. I've never added any new fish to vary the gene pool. Should I be...

This One almost makes you cry a tear of joy

Primates, elephants and dolphins/whales shouldn't be in captivity. They are all too intelligent and have group dynamics that can't be replicated in captivity.

    staying interested in the hobby

You could always try a new hobby that's similar to fishkeeping - such as vivariums/terrariums. I'm restarting my posion dart frog vivarium. It's a lot of fun & has many similarities to fishkeeping.

    Well, now I have a cat-Please help!!

Does your college alllow cats in dorms? Mine didn't, but I still managed to do it. It's not a lot of space for a cat - but if he's old and not active maybe that won't be a problem. Kudos to you for all the care and love you're giving out.

Do you bury your fish when they pass away?

ROFL! That's the hardest I've laughed this week. Thanks Rocky. Second place was when one of my fellow teachers said playing Wordle "hurts her brain".

Do you bury your fish when they pass away?

Option C: You set them afloat on a small raft and loft a burning arrow into it as it goes down the river.

Do you bury your fish when they pass away?

You should NEVER flush a live fish down the toilet. Easy for you & increases the fish's suffering. Euthanize it first.

Went to the All-Ohio Reptile Show today (which had far fewer amphibians than they used to): zero fire belly toads.

I have a 40 gallon tank of scarlet badis & I once tried to add other fish - big mistake and I rehomed the new fish quickly. They are freaked out by larger fish or more active fish.

    Please I.D. - weird green egg-looking things

Today I noticed about 200 tiny green spheres hanging in the roots of my water lettuce (indoor tank). I'm pretty sure they weren't there a day or two ago. They look like fertilized fish eggs but they are light green. When I moved the water lettuce most of the "eggs" detached and drifted to the...

The Story of Joseph, the Underdog Fish

Joseph is a scarlet badis. He lives in a 40 gallon tank with other scarlet badises. This is his little story. 1 Joseph is born in the tank. He's the son of Roosevelt & an unnamed female. All of his brother and sister fry are eaten. He manages to hide until he gets bigger. 2 Joseph grows and...
