Is any wanting any Duckweed? I thin out my tank every week or two and end up throwing it away, so if anyone wants it for the cost of the postage you are welcome to it. Last Friday I dumped at least two large hand fulls, don't know what postage would be but will do it at cost if anyone's interested.

I have loads of duckweed in an outside pond that you are welcome to for postage costs if you don't mind some snails in there.

IMO you dont need the potassium sulphate as the potassium is in with the potassium nitrate and the sulphate is in with the magnesium sulphate, you do however need a trace mix, added on alternate days to the rest.

a 6ft tank is no bigger than a bath.. do you have a bath up stairs?? many people do and never think twice about filling with water and then climb in themselves..    granted it would be an advantage if the joists ran at a right angle to the tank so that the weight would be spread over several...

tank to small for guppies and, badis,, puffer will eat shrimps. Put 20 cherries and the same crystal shrimp. they will soon breed if cared for right.

Scrap the betta. go with cherry shrimp and red or black crystals. 6 or so emerald tetra. The shrimp will keep the algae in check and are far more entertaining than a betta.

Remove neons and add 6 ember tetra although these do like a planted tank. I have red crystal shrimps in my edge with cherry shrimp, these wont interbreed and add colour. And yes yellow shrimp will interbreed with the cherries.

I have just done the same thing. Put new gravel/sand in the 46. re plant all your plants in it.Catch fish and Drain water from the 23 into the 46. Put fish in and top up with fresh water. Use the same filter and will be all sorted in less than a hour. I would not use black sand as it makes these...

I have reduced my pipes by using rigid pipe, this has reduced the flow slightly but I am over filtered so not worried, just didn't like the thought of that flexi pipe down the back of the tank. Mine are all solvent welded and rigid.

If the filter you have is right for your tank why do you want to alter the pipe work designed for it? If you reduce the pipe size then it will reduce the flow and lower the turn over, so then your tank will be under filtered.

You can't over filter.

should be ok IMO. some floating plants will help.

could be that they are struggling to shed their skin. I think there are products available to aid this but not sure as not had the problem myself
