    Treating plants with bi carb

I keep a planted tank and in this apart from fish I keep shrimp and trumpet snails. I understand that I need to treat any new plants by soaking in bicarbonate of soda. What ratio is best and for how long.

Thanks for the replies, where I live the nitrates straight out of the tap are between 40 and 60. baby fish dying

I find it hard to believe 8 fry have eaten 4 dead ones in an hour. Is it possible they have jumped out or something from the main tank got in or frightened them into jumping out. Do you have a lid on the breeder net. I had fish jump in with my fry before so always put a lid on to keep them secure.

    A baby!!!!!

" Congratulations'' that one must have been naturally streetwise. Sadly Platies eat as many young as they can catch. Your tank looks well planted maybe more will survive from the next batch.
