    Esha 2000 And Snails

Glad I’ve found this. About to start eSha 2000 myself and have 2 Nerrites and 2 Bamboo shrimps. I don’t have suitable QT tank so fingers crossed they will survive.

What’s wrong with my Panda Corydoras

Yes, I’ve learnt now that panda corydoras are pretty sensitive to water quality and diseases. The Peppered corydoras seems to fair better. I now know to spot early signs of diseases in them by monitoring their fins. Usually the first sign that something might be wrong is clamped fins. Large...

What’s wrong with my Panda Corydoras

Ah ok. I’m just going by the description in the product manual. I noticed some barbs and Corydoras turn their body whilst swimming. Sort of like a barrel roll a few times. The recommendation from eSha is to do a big water change tonight and treat with NDX. This treats round worms and nematodes...

What’s wrong with my Panda Corydoras

Thanks will consider that. The eSha bottle comes with pipette so it’s easy to count drops. I just wished I’ve spotted the disease earlier on but as a beginner I have no clue how to spot them, perhaps until it’s too late :( I’m learning more now and surprised at how complex fish diseases can be.

What’s wrong with my Panda Corydoras

It was diluted in the water that happens to be close to the fish. If I drip into the tank it’s the same effect, especially with 145 drops as per recommended dosage. Thanks for the advise though, I will never drop meds directly on fish unless per instructions but good to point this out.

What’s wrong with my Panda Corydoras

I was recommended to try eSha 2000. From the product information it does look like it might help some of the symptoms. One new thing I've learned from reading the extended product information is "shimmying disease". I certainly notice this in some of the barbs and corydoras. I didn't realised...

What’s wrong with my Panda Corydoras

No, drop in the tank. What I meant last night was I was able to target a few drops close to the fish.

What’s wrong with my Panda Corydoras

Cheers Colin. Hopefully this time it’s not the water quality as the parameters are ok and the water looks crystal clear. There were regular water changes during the 2 week dosing period as my tank was going through mini cycle, which seems to have completed about 2 days ago. I am due for big...

Thanks for recommendation of Seachem Garlic. Big fan of Seachem products so will check it out. I love bit of garlic myself :)

What’s wrong with my Panda Corydoras

So I temporarily switched the filter off to does eSha Gdex and the corydoras was resting at an awkward spot between the output pipe and tank glass. Looked a bit like it’s stuck. I managed to drip a drop of eSha Gdex directly on the fish and it swam away. It’s getting late and I have work...

What’s wrong with my Panda Corydoras

Thanks buddy. I won’t quarantine as it might cause more stress. I’m actually on the last day of treatment so not sure if I should add more doses. I did add few drops near the corydoras so hopefully that will help.

What’s wrong with my Panda Corydoras

I have a small QT tank but it’s only 5L. It comes with air stone.

What’s wrong with my Panda Corydoras

Stringy poop in the barbs. I am planning to start eSha NDX Saturday as it’s the soonest I could. Hope this poor fish survive the night, it’s almost an hour and it’s still doing it. https://www.eshalabs.eu/europe/products/esha-ndx.html

I’m on the last day of eSha Gdex treatment which I believe contains Praziquantel.

What’s wrong with my Panda Corydoras

Not too sure about the barbels. I think it’s eaten ok but have few other Pandas in the tank so can’t be 100% Best picture I can take at the moment.

What’s wrong with my Panda Corydoras

Noticed a Panda Corydoras swimming this was for last 15 min or so. Looks like it’s trying to surface but can’t. Looks like some white patches on the body but can be sure. Doesn’t look too healthy to me Water parameters are ok (0 ammonia, 0 Nitrite and 20ppm Nitrate)

    London nitrates

I've never tried frogbit or duckweed only salnivias. They get swirled around the tank and pushed to the bottom. Most start to rot or get stuck in the filter. It's just a bit of a pain for me. Floating plants are very good to control Nitrate, so you are on to a winner here :) I'm going to try...

That’s lovely. Shame I can’t have floating plants due to the flow.

    Help with testing

In regards to cycling I find that Seachem Stability helps. It contains helpful bacteria to aid cycling. I add this after every water change according to the recommended dosage. One tip is to also watch your bio load when doing fish in cycling. Try to not over feed.I have a high flow external...

    London nitrates

Fair enough :) I've mainly seen positive Amazon reviews and they guy below seem to have good results, although his setup may be marine. edit : Just read the link you've posted. Have a look at my link below. Apparently there are recommended flow rates recommended for denitrate/matrix. I need a...

Other 2 options on my radar are Seachem Matrix and Denitrate. Good reviews and doesn't need constant recharging.

    Is this parasite?

Day 7. Nitrite increased slightly so I did a water change just in case. It’s indeed good exercise as a 50L change is 10 trips with the bucket :) Tomorrow I will start second round of gDex. Did think about NDX instead but best stick to the schedule. Still notice stringy poop but otherwise no...

    Fish keep dying!!

Yes, my home is sold as an eco home an came with extra insulation, energy saving lights, rain water harvesting system (bit of a pain this one) which supplies downstairs toilet and garden hose, and a solar panel to help heat water (useless in winter when it's needed? :P) So I'm a bit confused by...

    Fish keep dying!!

If I turn off my mains I get no water at all. Access to the attic is a bit of a faff due to all the insulation but I wl try to have a quick look. My house is relatively new built, it was built 11 years ago.

    Fish keep dying!!

Thanks, to be honest I’m not sure if my hot water is tank fed. Suppose just to be safe I will use boiled water from kettle. It’s still too warm for me too add hot water but as it’s already autumn I’m sure I will soon need hot water.

    Fish keep dying!!

Ok, didn’t realise that. How can I tell if mine is tank fed? My boiler comes on when the hot water tap is on. my home is eco home and have solar panels to help heat the water. I have a tank in the upstairs closet.
  29. jonnyc88

    Fish keep dying!!

Curious, why not use water from hot water tap? Unless your hot water is tank fed?

    Ammonia problem - recovery?

Sorry to hear about your fish. Regarding cycling I find Stability really helps in cycling. I've had 2 mini-cycles recently and Stabiity seems to do the job after 2-3 days. I would recommend getting your water parameters stable before adding new fish. Remember that new fish could come with...

    Is this parasite?

Day 6 today. Tank looks really clear now which is a bonus. Water smells better too. The water clarity could be a sign that I might have resolved whatever that was causing my persistent water cloudiness. I notice one barb doing a stringy poop today but it got dis-lodged pretty quickly. It also...

Anyone here using Fluval 07 series filter?

Just wondering if anyone here use the Fluval 07 series (207, 307, 407) filter, I'm interested in the media basket filter setup. I have the 307 so it comes with 3 media baskets. Initially I was running stock media so thick black bio foam + polishing pad at the bottom, bio-noodles middle and...

Beginner New Tank Setup: Advice Appreciated!

Stuff on driftwood looks like biofilm, a kind of algae that grows on driftwood. It's harmless and would normally dissipate on it's own. https://aquariawise.com/how-to-get-rid-of-white-fuzz-on-aquarium-driftwood/

    Is this parasite?

Ah ok. I was a big fan of carbon and even bought tub to refill on regular basis but to be honest I’m not really too keen on it now. I’m on Day 5 so just did the bug water change. Can’t believe how clear the tank looks now. Fish also all seem pretty happy.

    White film in water surface

Cheers buddy. I think I have found the cause but wouldn’t mind having a look at your setup for future reference. The cause was combination of dirty pipes (lots of plant debris stuck which was cleaned with pipe brush) and I think the Fluval carbon media. I‘ve thoroughly rinsed and soaked the...
