What Fish Do You Regret Buying?

Lol seriously. I never knew a fish could be so Boisterous. I swore my husband did it as a joke the first time but it was faaarrrr to methodical and perfect. It was like a puzzle!! then when he repeated it over and over I was like this fish needs a freakin circus 🎪

What Fish Do You Regret Buying?

This has been a fun read! great topic! My fish regret was many many years ago and it was a red devil. He was so adorable that I couldn’t say no. I brought him home to my empty cycled 60gallon and admired him for hours. went to bed and woke to every single thing in the tank (gravel included)...

It's been a hot minute. Changing substrate

Hey all, I think it's been a couple of years since I've checked in. All had been well (in the tank anyway...not so much in the world...goodness, but we won't go there). I have the little 6 gallon fluval edge with shrimp and a nerite snail. I had three little ember tetra for years but the last...

    New member & tanks

Ohhh Great info thanks!!! I have a tiny little fluval edge and have 3 red, 1 blue and one black, and 1 Amano. All male. I don't really want breeding (although it must be so much fun to see and experience) because of size and I wanted different colors. Oddly I actually picked correctly and...

Hello and welcome from another Jersey person!!! I'm south Jersey though. I'm right in-between the shores and Philly. And am surrounded by woods and crops. I'm guessing you're closer to NY? Anyway your tanks look Amazing and I'm looooooving your blue shrimp colony! I also saw some orange...

    Cichlid hiding!?!?!?

I am not familiar with Greek Mythology although I'd love to dig into as it seems fascinating. I should have taken the time to google it but in my mind it sounded like "demented" maybe even "demon" and I just kind of put a masculine energy to it. Goodness. I will not do that again! Ignorance...

    Cichlid hiding!?!?!?

OOmmmmgoodness I'm sorry!! Hahaha...the name just made me assume (quite wrongly) that you were a guy! Not that I even know what Demeter means but in my mind it sounded manly I suppose! Goodness!

    Cichlid hiding!?!?!?

The tank did not "cycle". And it can't really be testing "great" had never been cycled and with all of these water changes and medications. If you could put these test results that would help us a lot to better help you in what to do. That is completely incorrect and there are very very few...

    Former Newbie's African Cichlid Experience

Oh good! Thank you! I did actually keep them many years ago but unfortunately I had no clue what I was doing. I walked into a pet store with tons of money to burn and excitement all over my young face and was lead to the biggest and most beautiful tank and my eyeballs lead me to Africans...

    Former Newbie's African Cichlid Experience

Your fish are stunning. I always wished to keep Africans. I know this probably isn't proper forum etiquette but this poor girl in this thread:http://www.fishforums.net/threads/cichlid-hiding.448404/ (not sure if that link will work...it's "cichlid hiding") could really use you're help...

    Cichlid hiding!?!?!?

Oh boy...this was my fear. You didn't cycle this tank. Running for a couple of weeks is not the same as Cycling. Cycling a tank is very involved and can take about 2 months. I'd tell you to take these fish back to the store ASAP but they're already ill and you'll have to deal with that...

Newbie, I'm thinking about getting some shrimp.. suggestions?

hahaha funny and sadly close to true, although I have had a wonderfully peaceful existence (knock wood) with my neocardinia and ember tetra. No one bothers anyone and everyone is active, out and about all day long. Basically any fish that can fit a shrimp in its mouth will have at it. But...

    Cichlid hiding!?!?!?

Hello and sorry you're having such troubles. Your tank and fish look beautiful. But no one has asked the most important question here.... Although maybe it's been answered in a different post that I haven't yet seen. Has this tank been cycled? And are you checking all of your water parameters...

What To Do With Shrimp Molt

My nerite is a little piggy and will eat anything, including moults, if the shrimp leave him any (they're usually the ones to eat it first). Holy Moly, that's a stunning little shrimp! I like the ones that come with a silver coin! haha, that's funny. .....and insane. I'd die by the time you...

What To Do With Shrimp Molt

Good Lord, I just choked on my coffee!!! I spent 8 on a sunkist shrimp and felt like I'd gotten robbed! That said, I do LOVE my shrimp! And I never remove the moults. They always get eaten, if not by the shrimp, by the nerite snail.

6 Male Guppy Fish Who Have Appeared To Stop Growing

I actually find these guys more interesting than guppies. They come in a huge variety of colors and patterns and they are very busy and active and use the entire tank as a playground. AND they have very small bioloads! Unlike guppies who are pigs!

I'd say these white spots are snail eggs. Even if you didn't think you had snails...you might have gotten some that hitchhiked in the plants.
