I definitely wouldn't put the otos in a bran new tank. They are tough to acclimate to begin with but a bran new tank isn't going to have enough algae for them...that's a lot stacked against the delicate little fish. Maybe start with the rest of your stocking and once it's established bring...

Hello! I too have the Fluval Edge but I have the 6 gallon :) I have spider wood, anubias and black fluorite. Inhabitants are 3 male endlers, 2 otos (had 3 but only 2 survived..tough fish to acclimate and must always substitute by feeding veggies), an amano shrimp, a sunkist shrimp and a...

    New 220L tank set-up questions

Oh I see. Poor little cories and their sensitive little mouths and barbels. Mine doesn't feel sharp at all but I couldn't say from a fishes perspective. My shrimp seem to love rooting around on it and my nerite often crawls all over the bottom (and everywhere else ...and I'd have to imagine...

    New 220L tank set-up questions

OMG!!! Well Crap!!! I certainly can't keep plants alive that have to be rooted in the substrate but I'd always assumed that it was because of my low tech set up ....and the fact that my main Anubias is so huge that it umbrellas all other plants keeping them from getting proper light. But...

    New 220L tank set-up questions

Nope! No smell! I love it so much. It looks so good and when my little Orange sunkist shrimp crawls across it ...it looks like a dream! haha, I'm such a dork! It really makes everything pop! And yes, you can hide little bags in filter and behind plants and such.

Ha...never fun. I'm glad you showed a close up of this, I like seeing the behind the scenes! I love carpeting plants but can never make them work in my low tech set up...so I'm jealous :) ...not that I'm not jealous of the whole thing....this is AWESOME! OMG this looks soooooo amazing I can't...

    New 220L tank set-up questions

Well, I'm pretty proud of myself! That means I'm learning fish lingo! I'd give you the rest of my 10lb bag if you lived closer! I'll never use very much of it with my teeny little tank! Since I only use about a 1/4 of a cup in a bag in my filter I don't know about this but I see Byron...

    New 220L tank set-up questions

great word, made me giggle. Now I need to google because I have no clue what this is...I'm guessing some form of diatoms?! Fish keeping sure is just endless learning! I can only say that I've had wonderful luck with it. Thanks so much for clearing that up! I got nervous!

    New 220L tank set-up questions

I had an amazing pond in my backyard (old house and miss it terribly) and had goldfish, koi and comets that all survived multiple winters and changing seasons (here in NJ we can go from snow to 70 in 24 hours and it's common). What I'm unsure of w/your situation is if it's a shock to his...

    Major flooding where I live

Oh man, I'm really sorry. That's awful. Our shores have been flooding yearly and like ch4lie said, the damage is astonishing. I hope everything gets sorted as quickly as possible.

    New 220L tank set-up questions

I think that's a wonderful idea and you'll get so much out of it...they're so interactive and beautiful! I think when you're ready maybe post a question to the forum stating you'll be a first time beta owner and ask for tips on making that tank everything a beta could dream of! There are a lot...

    New 220L tank set-up questions

Before you get an earful from someone that may not be very nice about it...maybe want to rehome Goldie as that's a pretty tiny little tank, better suited for a beta or maybe some fun little shrimp. I can spy it back there in the kitchen (cute). what?! hahaha yeah, very odd and kinda funny...

Ok, well thats better but still not ideal I'm afraid. Silver Dollars are a good sized fish as are Rainbows and that's not enough tank for both together. ***I think they'd make good tank mates but in a much larger tank***

    wait...three silver dollars, a jack and a bunch of rainbows?!?...in a 35? Sounds like you're stuffing a sardine can!

    New 220L tank set-up questions

oh wait...you have a goldfish tank?! So you're not new to fish keeping? Or did I read that wrong? Anyway...the new set up is definitely better... Is there any way it can go where the table with the TV is and the TV can go across the room from the tank? We haven't seen the entire room, so I'm...

    New 220L tank set-up questions

Ch4rlie made all awesome points! Something helpful, especially to newbies, is to start a journal of the whole process. This helped me a ton, as I always had it to look back on to reference and also it just helps to keep everything very clear. I agree with ch4rlie about that not being an...

I did, many years ago when I had no clue what I was doing. I had a 50 gallon bow front that housed a Jack and an Oscar. They grew up from teeeeeeny babies together, so this may be why they were buds. They lived happily together for 8 years when I lost the Jack and then about two years after...

FishForums.net March 2017 Tank of the Month Begins!

oh boy... I saw this yesterday and thought "goodness, this person is going to get an earful". Let me just try to gently tell you that the size of that tank is not suitable for any fish at all, let alone two goldfish (that grow to massive size and produce a huge amount of waste). Honestly the...

    Water Issues

Oh that's great! Easy solution! I'm not sure about this so maybe someone else can help...but since there are no minerals in the water (fine for the beta) the snails shell might suffer? If this is the case I believe I read in here somewhere that they have calcium blocks you can feed them.
