    Maybe a bit creepy!

I'll let you in to a little secret, Boomer - in fact two. 1) your wife knows 2) she feels the same And the two of you still love each other anyway!   It's just Nature's way.

You look fabulous! Very Holly Golightly. I love B/W for portraiture (in fact, I just love B/W photos - they capture a drama and depth that colour rarely achieves).

I can see you reflected in his eyes - you're beautiful! (Certainly seen through the eyes of love).

Boomer - your little one is GORGEOUS! You must be so proud of her!
  5. LostBear

    Maybe a bit creepy!

I can confirm this - at least I think I can. Were you wearing sunglasses, Aussie, and looking very slender and glamourous in a sort of "Audrey Hepburn" way?
  6. LostBear

    Maybe a bit creepy!

Well - I have to admit that when I saw your new little avatar pic, my immediate reaction was :eek::eek::eek::eek:. Who - in the name of all that is Holy - grows chilli peppers that look like the fiends of Hell?

    Maybe a bit creepy!

That is Jacob's bum you can see. He is an orange and white ticked cocker spaniel x whippet and very handsome (his face is even better than his bottom ). I did intend to enter him for POTM last time, but can't yet work out how to download my photos onto my laptop. Don't judge me - I'm old d:D

If she has English roots the odds are that she will have a bit of everything. We are a delightfully mongrel race!

Are there any Celts in your or your wife's ancestry? There's a Celtic gene which blesses the possessor with very, very pale blue eyes - they often look almost silver. It is supposed to indicate that the person has The Sight, and can see into other worlds and they have an awareness of things...

Thank you - many people think I should be old enough to have more sense, but to them I say "Pfffffft!":yahoo:

I've just checked out your artwork - I'm sure I can't be the only person in the world who thinks it is very unfair that you are blessed with both a lovely face AND a lot of talent! <shakes fist at the heavens>

    Music? Anyone?

All us geniuses are nut-jobs. It comes with the territory.

    Music? Anyone?

One of them is. I don't know which.

    Music? Anyone?

    Sorry Ali - I don't even know what that is! <woefully ignorant>

    Music? Anyone?

I saw what you did there! :kana: :band: Nice one! (Apologies that there isn't a left-handed guitarist in that little emoji.)
  19. LostBear

    Music? Anyone?

I'd not thought of that one - it's beautiful and one of the most (embarrassed cough) deeply erotic songs I've ever heard - but as you say - right time, right place, right person  So much good music! I wonder if we need a thread for music/artists which are unaccountably popular. (I'd...

    Music? Anyone?

I'm very wide ranging in my music tastes, too - tend to prefer particular artists/pieces than genres. Leonard Cohen/ Songs of Love and Hate/ Famous Blue Raincoat Leonard Cohen/ Songs from a Room/ Bird on theWire & Song of Isaac KDLang/ Live by request/ Miss Chatelaine KDLang/ Hymns of the...

Men! They never disappoint, do they?

I like goldies - they are always busy about some personal errand of their own, but at the same time they don't dart about which I find off-putting, personally. Mr LostBear's neons are always squabbling over something or other, and lunging about, while MY Glowlights just glide with quiet dignity...

I don't know how big rosy minnows get, but in my experience goldfish will quite happily devour ANYTHING they can get in their mouths- and that includes smaller fish! The Savage Kingdom of the Goldfish is a cruel realm.

Sticklebacks are brilliant! They used to be very common in ponds and streams round here, but not so much now. I used to have some in a tank - the males develop a beautiful rich red belly during the breeding season, and make a nest and protect the eggs. they breed freely in a tank IME

He is so sweet! I wish I had room for a pond. I love goldfish, but they grow so big.

    Hiding Parrots

Gorgeous piece of bogwood. (Much nicer than your castles IMO) It will look fabulous int your tank.

    I'm half-thinking of getting a bristle nose pleco . . .

"Ooooooh! Matron!" Only Brits of a Certain Age will understand that comment - sorry! :fun:

Yes - I've swallowed litres of liquid fish sewage in my time, too . . .

Losing fish daily - help please

I never even thought of that - but it's obvious now you have spelled it out. That will be my method of acclimation from now on.

    I'm half-thinking of getting a bristle nose pleco . . .

Wow! Lots of very helpful answers- thank you all! I think I got my answer with the advice regarding tank size from Russ and Bub. I'll wait until I get a larger tank - I don't want to impact the well-being of the pleco, or of the other fish by keeping one in an uncomfortably small environment...

    I'm half-thinking of getting a bristle nose pleco . . .

As I understand that they rarely grow to more than 4 inches. (We had a common one some years ago - it was a monster and put me off them for four decades). How much can I expect to pay for one, and would one be suitable to share a 64 litre tank with 10 neons, 5 glowlights and two Nerite snails...

Losing fish daily - help please

*Don't put store water in the tank.* That's interesting, Essay. I have always (not exactly drip) acclimated the fish - floating the bag for 15-20 minutes, then adding bit of tank water, then 15 minutes later a bit more, then again and then releasing the captives into the tank. I haven't had a...

    Possible leaky tank

Thanks for the recommendations. I don't think it's the weather - it's cool here (in t' North), but we are going to keep an eye on the heater today and see how it goes. The water getting warmer would, of course, increase evaporation and therefore condensation. We will see.
  38. LostBear

    Possible leaky tank

Sean - it seems that you were spot on with your suggestion that it could be excessive condensation - but we need a new heater - the temperature was 82 degrees. Mr LostBear has turned it down and it is going down, but we don't trust the damn thing now, because it shouldn't have gone up in the...
