I've always thought of cardinals as hardy fish. As long as you're mindful about water changes, feeding a variety of food, providing a stress-free tank, things should be good.

Can anyone tell me why a seller would label Cardinal tetras for expert fish keepers only?

Yeah I know TB are totally different from tetras. This was when I didn't know my wife would be stressed out by semi-aggressive fish. LOL, live and learn.

It never ceases to amaze me that more fish keepers don't invest in a proper surface skimmer. This will solve your gas exchange issues.

I actually do remember my rainbows being aggressive. I had the correct ratios and it was annoying how the males chased the females. I want a true peaceful community tank so I'll forgo the rainbows.

On a side note...I haven't kept rainbows for a couple of years, but do they need the one male to 3 female ratio?
